General Discussion

If your comic had its own game. What genre would it be.

I think Lavender Legend would be a dating sim that has a fighting game spin-off for no real reason. Emerald Winter is pretty obvious as an epic turn-based RPG with really long cut-scenes.

I'd probably go with a FPS or 3rd Person Shooter for Plastic Bullets, with relationship simulations between matches I suppose.

Everyone knows they want to piss off someone before they kick their ass in a fight.
Comic The Mutha Flippin God of Airsoft

Rockin the WTF face.
CLEARLY AN OUTRAGE! CLEARLY!
wait what?

A game developed from my comic (Gene) would have to be like Duke Nukem Forever, as both are currently vaporware.

(I haven't updated Gene since 2006) >_>

For ‘Professor Procto’ I'm probably gonna go with a side scrolling platformer but with strange mini games between ‘levels’. Could lend itself to an old school point and click too though.

Hairballs might be some kind of assortment of mini-games… somewhat like the old-school Game & Watch games.

…at least knock-offs of 'em. Gotta be honest.
By the time you finish this, you'll have read it. :3

It would be primarily a fighting game in the style of Dead Or Alive, but with a bunch of minigames like beach volleyball, cart racing, target shooting, mall running, battle tennis, guitar playing, club dancing, zombie killing…

Once I get around to actually making the comic, I suppose METER would be an MMORPG. Magic, hunting monsters, wars between clans/cities, yadda yadda.
And the game would crash at climatic points.

Well, I'll only say my two comics that I am/have been working on.

Ryu's Krew: I imagine it would be like, a darkly styled cel-shaded action adventure epic. Possibly spanning over two discs (or in a series of games). And like that game, XII, it would have sound effects for everything, and it would be heavily inspired by the comic itself. The gameplay would be somewhat linear, for the most part. Just because I don't want it to have a different ending (I imagine it would be made by the time it was done or something) or anything like that. However, you could make some choices, such as what weapon you use, attacks you use, the way you enter a certain place (some stealth elements you'll need to use) and you could probably change your character on the spot (or at certain places) between the main 3. I've given this some thought before ;P

Charles & Viktor: This one would be hard to turn into a game, mostly because it doesn't make sense, and there's no big plot. Only thing I could really see happening is either like, minigames (I'll explain what I mean), or episodic adventures. I'd probably end up doing the minigames thing, but I mean there'd be multiple adventures in each game, like the first 5 comics or so would be in the first game. Something like that. But it would be a lot like the Ryu's Krew game, just, in color. With lots of bright, pretty colors.

Wintergreen would be a beat 'em up with rhythm games in between levels.

Hmm. I suspect it would be a quirky sleeper. Maybe Earthworm Jimish? Nah, too much of a side scroller. Oh! I know! Monkey Island or Sam and Max!

I imagine Vampire Phantasm with Mass Effect 2/Vampire Masquerade type interactions…and maybe God of War/Devil May Cry style of battles? Except if you were to play Jack you'd have more stealth options. Haha, Orlock would be the final boss but you'd come across him from time to time, and you'd have to smash buttons to fight off his mental attacks. He'd be annoying like that. XD

Cwen's Quest could be a number of things I imagine. Maybe something similar to what I had in mind for a VP game above, or it could be an Evil Zone-ish fighting game with lots of interaction involved (Ooh, Riddly/Cwen tag team!) Though I think the best idea would be a sort of updated version of an old school adventure game mixed with battles, and being able to order other characters to use certain attacks would be nice too.

Real-Super would have to be an old school side scroll beat-em-up. 16 bit of course, but I don't know if it would be Super Nintendo or Genesis.

Super Temps would be something akin to an real professional wrestling simulator, or an inverted fighter game. You'd play Skull Girl, and your job would be to lose the fight, but make it look good.

The game would be played where you use specific taunts to communicate to your computer-controlled opponents your intentions, so you don't hurt them. Your opponents may communicate their intentions, depending on who they are at the time. Both characters have two stamina bars – one actual, and one for ‘show’. The goal is to weaken the ‘show’ bar of your opponent as much as possible WITHOUT deleting it. Bonus points for how much actual stamina both you and they have left.

On the defence, you can either manually evade the (pulled) attacks, or you can pretend to get hit, which reduces your ‘show’ stamina. Blowing the evasion and not faking means you get hit for real (and lose actual stamina) while successfully faking the hit evades the attack, reduces your ‘show’ stamina (which you have to deplete to win by ‘losing’) and improves your performance rating.

Faking being hit with bad timing reduces your ‘show’ stamina but weakens your performance.

In short: Don't lose too early, don't ‘win’, don't actually damage or be damaged, and if possible lose to a finisher move.

Characters like High Voltage are super-easy because they always give you heads-up on their next action, can dodge any attack you throw at him, always cooperates when you want to fake-hit him, and attempt to help you out if you're performing poorly.

The boss characters would be Jenny the Kat and Psychadelchick; Jenny would be bad for giving you warning, hits hard, and can blow her dodges (even if you warn her via taunt) if she gets cocky. Psycha is even harder; she can get away with “hitting for real” because her psychic abilities don't “count” as causing damage even though they still drain stamina. Plus she purposely tries to screw your performance by trying to take down your show-stamina too early, so you're forced to do a lot of manual dodging. (In short: with Jenny you're trying to avoid being KO'd while not KOing her, and with Psycha you're trying to avoid losing too soon and looking like a chump instead of a boss)

I can see it being a casual game with various extra add-ons people could buy, such as different locations, different rules (including winning), extra costumes, different seasons, and additional “temp” opponents.

And if that were successful, then I'd like to create a story-mode style game were you make up your own rookie Super who gets employed at the temp agency (Super Temps) and as a temp, you play all sides (so you need villain, hero and wildcard costumes) and have to interact and work with the various personalities.

The River to Aevin would be an adventure, sci-fi, apocalypse game that is impossible to win.

If I get around to it, ALUMINUM STARSPACE MIDNIGHT JUMP EXPRESS will give you seizures.

Hmm, My Comic?

Hard for anyone else to tell since it hasn't really started yet, but I imagine Ax Crazy as a sorta bizarre, Bully/Silent Hill mashup from a 3rd person perspective. If that's even possible.

It's funny how many people chose old school, 2D sidescrolling games over state of the art 32 bit Unreal engine technology.

I'm totally stealing these covers that were made for eventual use in my comic.

Oh, and my comic would be third person action/adventure/shooting/RPG….. like Kingdom Hearts… with guns and mechs. Picture the high flying action of a Star Ocean engine RPG which would zoom to Uncharted style shooting.
God needed the Devil, the Beatles needed the Rolling Stones, Hakoshen needs me.
I'm the enemy he requires to define him.
Soon or later, he'll bring me back to life again for another epic encounter of shouting about power levels and grimacing.

Point and Click adventure, or a 3rd person action-rpg.

Since my comic doesn't follow a specific plot, it could be virtually any genre.

I'm in progress of making a platformer out of it.

If Brick was made into a game, aside from the obvious Lucasarts Lego treatment, I'd theme it after “the Canadian”, voiced by David Caruso (With a voice coach for the thick Ontario accent.). There would also be appearances from the shark.)

I'd want it to be a sandbox game. Sort of like a “Grand Theft Lego”.

Read this comic. It is the greatest journal comic ever written and drawn. Trust me.

Well my comic is already based on a game sooo…. RPG. XD Of course it would be a standard RPG and not based on the MMO I took the setting from. It would be rather redundant to make an MMO of a comic based on an MMO.

Why guess it when you can have it. I'm actually making a game based of my comic. It's going to be something close to a pokemon styled kind of game. However if I could get a game company to actually make a decent one. It would be either God Hand styled or a RPG with real time action events like in paper mario series.
