This will probably get moved to the media section but…

It's a great film, certainly helped fire my imagination as a kid. Along with the likes of starwars, ghostbusters and the dark crystal. the 80s were awesome for films.

It's a generally good movie. I don't know what else you want us to say about it? Of Henson's works, I preferred The Dark Crystal for being a bit darker and mroe serious, but hey, we got David Bowie as a villain. Pretty sweet.

“You tell yourself to just
enjoy the process,” he added. “That whether you succeed or fail, win or
lose, it will be fine. You pretend to be Zen. You adopt detachment, and
ironic humor, while secretly praying for a miracle.”

I got really mad at the end and started shouting because she did not end up with David Bowie. HE WAS PERFECT. D8<

Afterward I looked up pictures of him and found out that he wasn't actually that beautiful all the time, which made me sad.

Always, I wanna be with mew, and make believe with mew

After this movie I had a huge crush on Jennifer Connelly. Still do. And I went out and bought every David Bowie tape. I was into cassettes in 1986. Loved his music.

And who knew Gates McFadden was a choreographer. Another crush there. (I couldn't resist the pun ;)

Some of the original voice work is neat with the muppet preformer doing the voices.
Same for Dark Crystal. But hearing Gonzo's voice from the Head Chamberlain or Miss Piggy's from Oghma just wouldn't be appropriate for some. Well maybe Yoda as Oghma.

I was already too old to appreciate this when it came out (*sob*) and I couldn't quite get past the Muppet-content. (I should perhaps add I love the Muppets but, thanks to Henson's puppetry, Labyrinth will never be anything more than a kids' film for me.) Also, as a huge fan of Bowie's music, I was disappointed that he went back on his decision never to sing in any of his movies.

I know anyone who was of the right age back then will always regard Labyrinth as a classic but for me … I just wish I'd seen it when I was younger!

It's my favorite Muppet movie by far – the humor still holds for me, and I'll still recall some of the lines for different occasions: “smells Bad (Bluto and The Bog of Eternal Stench)” “Down!? She said ‘down’” “worship me and I'll be your slave”

Bowie was awesome as the Goblin King, hitting the right tone of winsome mischievousness. And Connelly was such a beauty already - rather reminds me of Elizabeth Taylor - didn't matter too much that she couldn't act yet.

And some of the music is great. Love “dance baby dance”, with the doll being thrown up in the air - only goblins could get away with doing something like that, and “As the World Falls Down” is lovely and haunting as only a goblin Bowie could do it.

Top tier actors and high quality cinematics without cheap cg tricks… truly the golden age of TV fantasy.

Eh, there never was a golden age really, Henson was in a class of his own. :)

Me too.

And there's always a special place in my heart for this movie. DAJB is probably right, the movie probably has to be seen at a certain age for some of the silliness to be acceptable, but I watched it at the right time. It's where my opinion of David Bowie formed, and I don't think that's a bad thing. The man sure put on a show.

Japan must have watched this movie too, because the older prince of dubious evil character in Escaflowne is basically David Bowie goblin king.

I consider Jen Connelly at her most smokin' hot in the movie Dark City. Great movie.
