Will the forums for discussing the comics that are being judged ever be open up so we can see the decision making process?
To me, that sounds erally interesting.

My guess is no- it wouldn't be fair to the judges and might inspire people to base future decisions on lame crap like hurting our feelings. ;)

Nope, sorry!

For the same reasons Hyena H_ll said.

Though if we use this forum for next year I might leave the old posts so the new judges can see how things worked the year beforehand. Think that would be a decent idea?

Well if they aren't going to go public then I would just delete em.
The enxt years judges should not be influenced by what happened the year before.

I agree and I know the judges in the categoriess, I was a part of, were very honest at times… not to be hurtful but to insure that all points were considered. Maybe you can keep one or two of the threads for tough categories, as examples? (painless ones).

I agree. I don't really want the public to be reading my comments I made in my decission making.

I don't mind future judgers reading what I wrote to help them understand what to be thinking about in making their decissions, but I'm a bit uncomftrable with everyone being able to read them. @_@

Same here, especially since I think I was quite blunt with a lot of the things I said. It would be cool to devise a way for people to see what was written, but I don't know how that would work.

i agree, i don't want people to know what i wrote it would be really embarrasing!!!
regrets i've had a few but then again, too few to mention,
i did what i had to do and saw it through without exemption.
I planned each charted course; Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this, I did it my way.

Hah! WELCOME TO HARK'S AND MY WORLD
you know why birds don't write their memoirs? because birds don't lead epic lives, that's why. who'd want to read what a bird does? nobody. that's who.

It kinda take the whole point away. It's kind of important that the awards don't get revealed until the end of the presentation for that category. If they're already revealed then what's the point of the presentations?

No worries. I won't even leave the old reviews there come next year. I will keep backups of this year's reviews though.

Make it easier to see who stayed and who fell off the earth. And it tells me whom had each category so next year we can mix it up more.

Okay, what about this….

can we be told what order the finalist comics ranked in?

Like which one was discarded right away, which ones came close but was pipped at the post?

I'm losing a lot of categories right now (Ouch! My Pride!) so I'm curious if I was in with a chance or if I fell at the first hurdle.

Hark is afraid of becoming the Susan Lucci of the DD awards.

You still have a lot of noms to go. You may still win an award. I wouldn't count on that Anthro award though. :)

It's a Grizzly Bear battling Zombies. Do you need to know more?

If you're curious, ask the judges! There's a list of them, you know. And it can remain a private matter.

I mean, privacy is VERY important here. The judges would not be able to be candid if they have to check themselves constantly for fear of hurting feelings (some would, but it would certainly dissuade plenty of potential judges). Plus, a lot of nominees wouldn't be comfortable feeling so openly critiqued and scrutinized.

Actually I deleted the list as ppl completed their categories.
Amanda reminded me we shouldn't tell who is judging but it was too late.

And to note I HATED that ppl knew I could see every category.

I was afraid it would make them hold back on my work. And I was even more paranoid if I needed to post in those categories for some reason :P

Zaymac I don't know who Susan Lucci is, so I am going to try double hard not to be like her!

I'm on the ropes a bit, but I'm not finished yet!

She is an American soap opera actress (not that I watch them) who was nominated for an Emmy award like 15 years in a row and didn't win until the 16th or something.

I know that wasn't the case in the forums I was in, I felt like everyone was honest and open about what they liked or didn't like. If your stuff wasn't so good we could have complained more… work on that next year… HA ;)

Damn it!
I need another 7 nominations to guarantee it with those odds!

Zaymac, I've got my army of high priced lawyers on the phone to demand recounts if I lose that anthro award. I don't know how much good that will do because there are only three judges voting…..

I'll also get the Reverend Jesse Jackson to play the race card for me! Again, not such a big help since I'm white….

I'll also start a smear campaign to discredit you and claim that you eat puppies. Mind you the judges will already have made up their minds so no amount of puppy eating claims are going to be able to affect the outcome….

I'll cry a lot and make you feel guilty! Yeah! Whatdaya think about that, huh?
Not so tough now, are you?

I bet after all this The Agency is going to win the award and we will both lose!

I didn't mind going into every category Harkovast (the comic) was in and telling the judges to dismiss it right of hand! But don't tell him! ;-)

EDIT: Oh and Amanda did too. In fact we had to ban some ppl that refused to dismiss it!!! >:-(

Harkovast….if you'd only have popped a MENTOS into your mouth before the final votes…….then the odds would have been in your favor in ALL categories. I would have…..but I didn't have a MENTOS on me, and look what happened to me this year!!!

Justnopoint looking at how badly I am doing, I'm not a hundred percent sure that isn't true!

I've lost 8 out of 8 so far!
The failure express went straight through disappointing and is now pulling up at embarrassing station!

You were nominated Hark! Nominated in numerous catagories! Sheesh, can't please some people.

You know many palms I greased and didn't get nothing? I wish I had your bad luck instead of mine.

By the way Al Sharpton and Louis Farakahyn have both lined up behind me since I am descended from white Southern slave owners. Pay enough money and you can get anyone to support you. Besides how can you racially integrate a comic populated with animals? ;)

bravo I need to look at this from a more positive perspective.
I just need to lose one more and I can have an unbroken 9 loss streak!
That has to be some sort of record!
I should get an award for that….wait, no I shouldn't….as that would mean I had won an award and ruin my streak!

yes, i think that number award is pretty good, that alone makes you a winner, and the mere fact that you got nominated for all those awards just means your readers greatly support you; even if you don't get an award you should award them with hard work to make the comic they voted for even better.

Panda it has all gone wrong!
I just won best anthro, so my record breaking title lies in ruins!

You see, I just needed to make sure that I was aiming to not win, then I was guaranteed to win! I cannot fail at failing, even if my failure is success!

So rest assured, next year I will be working hard to make sure I DON'T get into lots of categories and I certainly DON'T plan to win dozens of awards! If that happened, I would be really unhappy!

Hey harkovast, I was having the same thoughts as you concerning making the forum public, but I understand why they keep it private. Personally, if I was aware of the Pros and Cons of my comic, it would really help me find my weak spots, so I could improve them. :) What I am going to do is PQ JustNo and/or amanda and find out what the judges said about my comic.
