Unenthusiastic: Wow. Hey here's an idea. Have the rover snap another picture of the same place 5 minutes later. If it's gone, we can panic. If not, drive closer to confirm it's a bloody rock and stop making a hype out of every stupid thing you can think of, for an idiotic quest for ratings, you sorry piece of ****** media.
Those were my two cents.

Dude… that picture was taken in 2004. The rover isn't anywhere near there anymore.

I think it's just a shadow, like the ones below and to the right of it.

That doesn't change that they jumped to conclusion that it was aliens and decided to post it without checking to see if NASA rechecked the area. Anyways the “2008/01/23” part of the link made me think it was brand new. I'll admit it's a good picture. I just have had it with how the news media has evolved to this “must get ratings” mentality. Nowadays you have to shift through all the celebrity bull crap and who's dating who to see some actual news. And don't get me started with how unbiased they've become and……
Those were my two cents.

Heh. Admittedly, first thing I thought was ‘there’s a mermaid statue on Mars'? It's a similar pose.

it looks very cool, but if it was a creature there would have been a whole big fuss about it in 2004 already

I'm more worried about the mass harvesting of Human Horn for their use as an aphrodisiac….

It is probably fake. Although I'm sure there is life on other plantes, somewhere out there. We just need to find it.

Don't worry. They're easily scared but they will return, in greater numbers.

Are people jumping to conclusions about this? From what I've seen the mainstream media is presenting this as exactly what it is: a cute little coincidence that a couple of crazies are going to latch on to.

Inkmonkey:

Well the first second of the video asks the question is this proof of life on mars?

“A new picture beamed back from a rover on Mars causes a frenzy of speculation.” A quote from the news article.

What I don't get is that if that picture caused so much speculation, why didn't NASA dwell deeper into it? Why didn't they revisit the area and take more pictures just to rule out any speculation no mater how slim they were. I mean they did that regarding the famous face incident. Better yet, if they did recheck it, why didn't the media also show the follow up of that investigation?

bongotezz:

Aw shit! They're here! Hide your spleens and human horns!
Those were my two cents.
