I'm skipping my last class of school on Thursday to go see it with some friends. HA HA HA HA HAAAAA!!! I am so rebellious. (Even though I asked my parents. And it's health class that I'm skipping out on, so I won't really be missing anything. But still. REBELLIOUS!)

Interesting fact: Did you know the screenplay for Art School Confidential was written by Daniel Clowes, famed comic artist and creator of such works as Eightball, David Boring, and Ice Haven? (And, of course Ghost World, which was made into a movie of its own.)

Other movies I'm looking forward to seeing this summer: A Scanner Darkly, the one with Keanu Reeves in it that's entirely rotoscoped. I'm kinda curious as to how all that turned out.

Yeah. I'm curious to see it.

Being an automobile fan, I'm curious as to what Pixar has done in Cars.

Didn't I see that movie before, when it was called Waking Life?

Waking Life did more with the animated elements than A Scanner Darkly. Now it's just the cheap photoshop filter. Persoanlly, I think it looks like crap, as opposed to Waking Life which was just crap all around.

I dissagree. It's not one of my faves, but I wouldn't say it was crap all around. They were going for a feeling of dreaming/in-between-life-and-death so they used that rather weak animation look. It worked alright at achieving the desired effect, I just ignored it after a while and focused on the rest.
The acting was student quality at best and so was the story, but that's not really such a horrible thing. People have to start somewhere and it was a decent effort, if a little dull.

If this were a student work, maybe I would agree with you, but we're talking about an established director/writer. He already had several films under his belt when he made Waking Life, so all I can see it as is a crappy film by a director/writer who's done better.
