If that's real, wonder if that cat can flap it's wings…
Of course it's real, and no: they can not “flap” them. However: cat's have excellent muscular control over most of their skin so as far as their control still extends to the stretched skin growths they can indeed move them somewhat, but control is limited- as you'd expect. ;)

PP- so THAT's what you're keeping under your hat…

Yeah, but that cat isn't going to start flying anytime soon…

I became fascinated by winged cats a few years ago, after I encountered one in Medford, MA on summer night.

It seems like most instances of Winged Cats are just matted fur, Cutaneous asthenia cases seem to be very rare. Still, it was a startling experience! it was also a great relief to find out it was a well-understood phenomenon.

Winged cats in the darkness can really get one's attention.

Winged cats… seems like some kind of odd manga phenomenon. Odder still that they actually occur in real life.

I'm just glad that they can't actually fly. Otherwise I'd lose whatever sense of reality I have left!

Updates Thursdays.

You have a sense of reality left? Lucky…
I hate humanity. If you are intelligent/funny enough I might spare you in my inevitable killing rampage. Good luck.

Woah! Those are some scary shit! My first thought when I saw the barnacle guy was Pirate of the Carribean Davy Jones and his minons. Betcha he made some deal with him.

The cats reminds me of the book series “Catwings” by Ursula K. LeGuin. I bet the author was inspired by the mutation.

Oh man… That skin disease looks nasty. D: Poor guy…

(*Totally wanted to make a joke about him secretly being a member of the Flying Dutchman, but will now let that go due to feeling guilty for it…*)

What a horrible, but fascinating disease. The human body never ceases to amaze me.

And a winged cat… If ever I showed this to my friend, I bet that's exactly what he'd ask his mother for his next birthday. xD;;
