Aww, I coulda answered that one! I like this game, it's like backwards Encore :)

Okay I'll put out an easy one!

“We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
How soft your fields so green, can whisper tales of gore,
Of how we calmed the tides of war, We are young overlords.”

The immigrant song. Led Zeppelin. ^_____^

Sublimely fantastically brilliant song.
———————-

Hmm, these things are flawed since neither musical taste nor musical knowledge is universal.
The only way to really do it is to use broadly known music like Amy's example.

So following her example I'll pick something that should be widely known, but this time it's something I absolutely hated when it came out:

“I want a place to say:
get your booty on the floor tonight
make my day
I want a place to say:
get your booty on the floor tonight
make my day”

Teehee, now that one is gonna be stuck in my head all day! Technotronic: Pump Up The Jam. The video for that one is hee-larious!

That's right about picking the widely known ones though, even though I knew the Alice in Chains one probably “The Rooster” is a more recognizable track. One has to restrain oneself from just putting down songs they like because I like a lotta stuff and while that makes games like this easier for me, I could be a real pain in the butt stumping people with lyrics from Killing Joke or Rush :)

Okay here's one! The name of this may be obvious by the lyrics.

“With a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound
he pulls the spitting high-tension wires down.
Helpless people on subway trains
scream, bug-eyed as he looks in on them.
He picks up a bus and he throws it back down
as he wades through the buildings toward the center of town.
Oh no, they say he's got to go…”

“Sleepin' very soundly on a Saturday mornin', I was dreamin' I was Al Capone. There's rumors goin' round, gotta' clear ‘round the town, yeah I’m smellin' like a dry fish bone. Stone Cold Crazy by Queen (or perhaps even the cover by Metallica!)
Hehe, I'll probably be stumped if someone comes in here with lyrics to something recent, I haven't been listening to the radio lately!

Here's one that might be a little more challenging, it's from the year 1972:

“Saturday night I was downtown, working for the FBI
Sitting in a nest of bad men, whiskey bottles piling high.
Bootlegging boozer on the West side, full of people who are doing wrong.
I was just about to call up the DA man,
when I heard this woman singing a song…”

Anyways. Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress by… Shit… The Hollies?

Great idea, if we want to go way back, I'll go to the ‘60s.

21st Century Schizoid Man - King Crimson

We should stick with the more notable songs…

I'll make this one short and sweet, just sticking with the chorus.

I can show you what it's like
'till you're bleeding!”

Yeah, I didn't feel right answering that one because I knew the band but not the name of the song, and I was even iffy about the artist at first so I sorta guessed in the right direction then looked it up :) My best friend a state away introduced me to that band because he was reading the Dark Tower, and thought perhaps that's where Stephen King got the name for the Crimson King. Other than that I don't think many people remember King Crimson, since it doesn't get much attention these days!

But yeah mine was The Hollies!

Your second one: Mother by Danzig.

Here's a super easy one!

“Well we got no class,
and we got no principles,
we ain't got no innocence…
we can't even think of a word that rhymes!”

^^^^ Marilyn Manson - Rock is Dead

I hope this is widely known:

“We are the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx/
Our great computers fill the hallowed halls/
We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx/
All the gifts of life are held within our walls”

But, if not, this should be:

“She said it's cold/
It feels like Independence Day/
And I can't break away from this parade”

Rush, temple of Syrix

Ugh. This stuff isn't that well known -_-
I don't know your second one Phri

How's this, a super easy one from the 1980s:

In touch with the ground
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
Smell like I sound I'm lost in a crowd.
And I'm hungry like the wolf.
Straddle the line in discord and rhyme
I'm on the hunt I'm after you.

lol! If you don't get that, I'll pinch you on the bum.

(too lazy to google it too…)

Amelius
Dark Tower
Dark Tower? STEPHEN KING?! (I do this everytime something of his is mentioned)

This one is more current than any others but should still be well known. As most stuff I listen to it's alternative rock.

“Love me cancerously, like a salt-sore soaked in the sea.
”High maintenance“ means your a gluttonous queen,
narcissistic and mean.
Kill me romantically, fill my soul with vomit
then ask me for a piece of gum.
Bitter and dumb, you're my sugarplum
you're awful, I love you…”

“Your Awful, I Love You” by Ludo

I think this one's pretty well-known (considering how widely-known the band is), but if you're a metal fan of any sort and you don't know it, then you deserve to die:

“Oh, when I burn
Fuel is pumping engines
Burning hard, loose and clean
And on and on
Turning my direction
Quench my thirst with gasoline”

YYZ by Rush!!! Hahaha… Aw…

Seriously, Metallica's Fuel. YYZ has no words.

This one should be pretty easy, it's a song I frequently play on bass for a warm up.

“Good times gone,
but you feed it!
Hate's grown strong,
you feel you need it!
Just one thing,
do you know you?
What you think,
that the world owes you?”

Lots of Beastie Boys songs that I don't know. :(

I found an edited version of these lyrics. It cracked me up! (but finding the explicit ones was hard…)
“Noooooo!
cmon Kage bring the thundah
there's just no way that we can win,
that was a masterpiece.
listen to me
he rocks too hard because he's not a mortal man
goddamn-it Kage,
he gonna make you his sex slave,
youre gonna gargle mayonnaise
unless we bust a massive monster mamma-jam.
dude, we've been through so much sh*t,
deactivated lasers with my d*ck
now its time to blow this f*cker down!
C'mon Kage now it's time to blow doors down
I hear you Jables now it's time to blow doors down
Light up the stage cuz its time for a showdown
We'll bend you over then we'll take ya to brown town
Now we've got to blow this f*cker down
He's gonna rape me if we do not blow doors down
C'mon Kage cuz it's time to blow doors down
OOOOOOh (?) It's time for the black out
Hey anti-christ-er, Beelzeboss,
we know your weakness our rocket-sauce
we rock the casbah, and blow your mind
we will defeat you, for all mankind
you hold the scepter,
we hold the key
you are the devil,
we are the D”

Okay, here's a classic:

So you run and run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

Okay, I got another classic:

Laying low in a blood filled trench
Kill time 'til my very own death
On my face I can feel the falling rain
Never see my friends again
In the smoke and mud and lead
Smell the fear and the feeling of dread
Soon be time to go over the wall
Rapid fire and the end of us all

Well I'm not sure how well known this one is but I'm hopeful someone will get it.

Oh how do you do, young Willy McBride
Do you mind if I sit here down by your graveside
And rest for a while in the warm summer sun
I've been walking all day, and I'm nearly done
And I see by your gravestone you were only nineteen
When you joined the great fallen in 1916
Well I hope you died quick
And I hope you died clean
Or Willy McBride, was is it slow and obscene
