Naruto sucks monkey balls ‘cause the plot is going to hell, the characters are turning into copies of themselves, and the artwork is growing stale… But I can’t stop myself from reading it! >.< That's how you know a manga's good…

But manga that I like (that aren't flipped up) are defintely Full Metal Panic!, Othello, and Tsubasa.

Wow, not only do they have scanlations of manga commercially licensed in the US, their site also tries to install spyware on your machine. Nice.

I'm not complaining, the only way i could get it other wise is to order it from another country, either way i don't have that type of money and i haven't got any spyware yet from it.

I could care less about your personal downloading habits or the reasons behind them. It's just questionable to be linking to materials that are illegal in the US on an American board. Not only does it promote piracy to those people who can easily obtain those materials through legal venues, but there are several web hosts who frown on linking to illegal materials, even in public forums.

I only pick up the occasional issue of Shonen Jump, but I really liked the last two Naruto issues. Rock Lee may be my favorite character ever. He not only has amazing eyebrows, but at his core he's just a guy who wants to work really hard to achieve his goals. I actually got a little emotional when he lost to Garra. Poor Rock Lee! :(

Shonen Jump also previewed a manga call “D-Gray Man” which seems like it's really good. It almost feels like a non japanese comic. The art is uinique and the villian is fantastic. I will probably buy it.

Oh, yeah! That was pre-time jump though, back when everything was slightly still in canon. Then Kishimoto began to mess up his own canon, and it was sad. -_- What makes it worse are the stupid fangirls who pair up every single flippin' guy with each other. *eegdhsagj;haj1! anger!*

But yeah. Rock Lee, uh, rocks.

sex pistols is my favorite

oh normal manga

Death Note is good. I kind got pissed when a certain someone *ahem* kicked the bucket and stopped reading it but the current stuff is getting much better.

I love berserk too!

I have to say I really didn't like the D-Gray Man promo. I'm not sure whether they promo-d the second chapter or possibly the second and third, but the whole thing felt forced and the pacing was much to fast for an introductory chapter. I'll admit it did have some nice art though. The Millenium Earl's character design is quite unique. And creepy.

As for Death Note, I like those kinds of stories that take place over long expanses of time, therefore making them seem ‘epic’. And although that death was sad, it opened up a whole new can of worms. I just love all the twists and turns DN takes.

i didnt like the dr. gray man preview either for the same reasons. they also previewed claymore and i thought that one kind of sucked. idk it just wasnt very appealing to me, all the characters looked the same.

i should start reading death note. does anyone here read eyeshield21?

The way D-Gray man started did see rather abrupt, but maybe they just wanted to get all that backstory out of the way as quickly as possible and move on to the good stuff. All the character designs are just so fantastic though.

I really really didn't like Claymore. I've never seen an artist with such talent draw in a way that was so bland.

Claymore just felt empty. Kind of the way D-Gray Man did. Some random town where there's monsters and fight scenes and really…bad lines. The dialogue in Claymore was just awful. I'm not sure who to blame, the writers or the translators? Even if the writing was bland to begin with the translators could have tried to spice it up a bit. But overall it felt empty.

At least the character design for the monster in D-Gray Man was cool.

Yes, I read eyeshield 21. Great art, interesting story, and for god sakes it's about Football! I hate football! Any comic that I enjoy which is about something I hate should get a medal.

yea I don't like football either but I love eyeshield21
of course I probably started reading it for different reasons from all of you XD

I haven't read claymore but I did see one issue of it in monthly jump some time ago and I remember thinking that the artwork was really repetitive. I would keep wondering “did I see this panel already” on like every page.

>.> Generally, don't watch the anime. ‘Cause it’s corny. You know that sweet scene between Zabuza and Haku? How you were like ‘Aww, they wuv each other’, but the manga didn't really shove it in your face like ‘ZOMG!! THEY BE GAY!!’

The anime does that. T_T BADLY. It's, like, a constant 20 minute showing of them being all ‘Oh woe, angst! We never got together!’ And while the fight scenes rock, it's the dialouge that constantly gets in the way. You know that battle ‘tween Kenshin and that guy who was all uber powerful, but they JUST couldn’t fight ‘cause of the constant talking and talking and talking?

Yeah, Naruto’s worse though.

In an unrelated note, I had the unfortunate experience of seeing a Kenshin episode last night in English. My GOD is the dubbing bad in that series. It makes me think Naruto's dubbing should win a flippin Oscar.

i dont see any problem with the dubbing in naruto, i mean the voices match the japanese voices, they stick to the script and they keep the original music. the guys at funimation doing dragonballz could've taken a hint, that really pissed me off. but the relationship between haku and zabuza is more of a father son relationship. at least thats the way i like to think about it. cuz i mean zabuza's got at least a good 20 years on haku.

anyway, i just read a fairly new manga entitled “katekyo hitman reborn” and i must say that it looks really cool. after reading the first chapter i'm interested, so i recommend it.

eyeshield 21 is just great, i only have the first 3 volumes but i'm hooked. a definite keeper.

Yeah, JSS looks really cool. I REALLY hope they release it over here. Then G4 could actually review an anime/manga game that's good.

I think the worst travesty ever created in SJ anime dubbing is One Piece.

does anyone read 666 satan? the first chapter was really good. uh…the steam city arc was pretty long but it had some good parts, like introducing kirin. he's a cool cat. but a lot of what happens in it is very similar to dragonball and naruto. at least they grow up faster than in naruto

They won't port it, a bunch of different companies own separate licenses. JSS was released in Japan because Shuesha (Jump) owns every title.

Licensing anime works a little differently. Marvel and DC have rights over all aspects of their franchises. They hold the intellectual rights to all of their characters and anything that involves them, giving them complete control over any product manufactured using those characters. Anime distributors in the US buy licenses to distribute particular parts of a franchise, like a season of the TV series, or a manga, or just a movie or game. Their contracts are fairly specific on what they can and cannot release. The Japanese publisher, however, is free to sell the rights for additional franchise products to anyone they please. It's cheaper for the American companies to do things this way since many are not the corporate giants with facilities to manufacture all forms of media that their Japanese counterparts are.

…Meaning JSS COULD (in theory) be released? I think it'd make much more money for Nintendo than any of these single-title anime games out right now.
