Hi guys, I'm new to hand drawn comics (coming from sprite comics) and I've been having a lot of fun drawing but am suffering from dissatisfaction of my own work.

http://www.drunkduck.com/Dead_Iris/index.php?p=746242

As seen in the page above, the speed lines I present to show motion are horrible, lack strength and dynamic significance. These lines are a temporary solution from Create Noise->Blur (Radical/Motion). I am horrible at drawing the lines one by one because they turn out extremely inconsistent and ugly. (and usually not straight)

Please help with this issue.

use a ruler maybe? or the line tool on a different layer in photoshop or gimp.

or do as you have, on a separate layer then use select by colour or some such and then flood fill it, in photoshop it usually slightly enlarges the whole selected area each time you flood fill.
