Who's the better captain?
I'm pretty sure it's Picard. Why? Well his lack of shitty acting helps out, but he has the older man resolve and sense that Kirk just doesn't. Plus, he can keep his cool and do control the XMEN.

What can Kirk do?
He reads poetry.

Yeah, I like the way Picard doesn't get into fist fights with everyone he meets. ^_^
His intellectual approach is preferable and a lot more captainly. Still, as Star Treck captains go, Picard's fellow baldy Captain Cisco is the most “bad-ass” of the lot.

appalling, simply appaling! Kirk was way better! He was smart, charming, and he didn't resolve every situation with his fists. That was Scotty.

Scotty just sat around and did nothing all the time but make bad puns. Kirk hit EVERYONE. See subs video for example

I hate Bones. That guy was a real dickhead… because his voice was like a hacsaw in my brain. (but his character was also a loser)
Sulu was the coolest guy on the whole ship… because he had such a cool voice.
Uhura whas the best character of them all… because she was so hot.

Personally I prefer Kirk. I find him much more witty than Picard, and also less boring. Still, I'm not quite sure who would do better as a captain, being that I'm still a little new to Star Trek.

It's quite easy to figure out when simplified: Kirk wants hot alien “companionship,” while Picard is wanted by hot aliens for companionship. Plus The Shat would make a poor Robin Hood or King Richard while Picard's smooth scalp and skintight uniform make panties soak across the galaxy, or at least the alpha quandrant.

I have to agree with Ozone that Cisco is the best of all, however, despite Archer's ability to Quantum Leap.

That new one was S H I T. I mean, it was WAY more A-merican than the original series. The original compared with the Bacula series is positively cosmopolitan, enlightened, worldly, funky, creative, entertaining, and intellectual.

Enterprose, or whatever it was called was WAY more cold war era, close-minded, stupid, backward, boring, politically naive, sucky, stupid, moronic, ugh, urk, ewuck, ew, ew, ew, ew, can't-believe-Bacula-starred-in-something-so-fucking-stupid, IAmEmbarrssedToAdmitIWatchedMoreThanOneEppisodeOfThatCrap!

Was it that bad? I never actually watched it, I was without UPN until a few months after it was cancelled. As a Baculite I just assumed that it would be at least entertaining. I guess it's off my watch list if it's that bad though. I've been watching Voyager lately and have gained more of an appreciation for it. Tuvok started choking the shit out of Neelix the other day on a repeat and I decided to give the show another chance. I'm still a fan of DS9 more though.

Captain Picard.
Captain Kirk's acting was shitty, and he'd make out with every girl he'd see! Before he knew his name! And it would be a green-skin alien or something! Basically, every girl could be summed up as-
*Kirk makes out for half an hour*
Kirk- By the way, what's your name?
Girl- My name is florg!
Kirk- Okay.
*Continues making out.*
Most of the girls wanted to kill him in the end though! Captain Picard (heheh… Pick Hard…) wouldn't do that. Really, Spock saved the whole series. He could save any series. Hell, you could put him on Friends and make the show good! Although that's because he would vulcan grip everyone.

Was it that bad?
That's affirmative sir…
yeah… I think they misjudged the whole “9/11” thing. They seemed to have decided to base the entire series on US foreign policy following that tragic event. It was just bizarre. How could they think that would make an entertaining show? The sort of morons who get all fired up by war fantasy couldn't care less for Startreck; they're too busy watching cops and Dog the bounty hunter. It was even a bit “Pearl Harbour” in some ways. They even spoke like guys from a film about WW2 made in the 50's… All bout “mom's apple pie” and “sweetheart's back home”, BLRAGHHHhhccch… copious vomit!

Voyager was OK. It seemed to start getting good in the second series I think, once the captain started acting less like an extra from Dr Quin Medicine woman… complete with her trademark 19thC hairstyle. The addition of the sexy Borg lady really gave it a huge boost. They really should've spaced Neelix though.

I agree a little neck pinching could have definitely picked up Friends. I finally did take a look at Enterprise, and I see precisely why everyone hated it. “Let's do another Star Trek, but let's cut out all that Star Trek crap.”

Who votes we space Neelix? Then follow up with Tuvock? Next goes that Paris guy…?

Ok, in DS9 Jake is first out of the hatch, followed closely by his Feringi playmate, and then the Feringi's dad.

In TNG, Wesly Crusher takes a space walk without a suit, then his mum, and any other child actors.

As for Enterprise: All the male actors who play humans can get f**ked.

And for the real Star Trek… Bones can take a running leap into nowhere… I think he's DEAD Jim! And that's all.

Result: Star Trek lost the least characters: Star Trek FTW!

I'd add Guinan to the list. Whoopie as a wise old alien bartender? Sounds like the writers were hitting the pipe.

Pfft, how many green women fell in love with Picard? Zero! That many. Can he claim to have had the first inter-racial kiss in television history? Hell no! but captain kirk has that claim.

but can he sing?
http://www.youtube.com/watch/v/OjNKyoRudOQ

Why indeed-y he can.

Between those two I'd have to say Picard is better because he can deliver a sentence in one large chunk rather than in smaller installments. And I forgive Picard for making us see his bum that one time.

But if I got to choose ANYONE as the best captain, I'd choose Riker's beard. It commanded respect and had an amazing presence to it.

I couldn't care less who was the best captain.

because my focus wasn't on the captains on those TV shows if you know what I mean. ;)

Star trek: Spock was so sexy with those pointy ears of his… I have a thing for pointy ears. plus his calm nature.

TNG: Data ruled hard.. that intelligent Machine mind, and that sexy pale white skin.

Voyager: Tuok I found sexy for the same reason as Spock. plus Seven of Nine is awesome and sexy…having Borg abilities definitely has it own advantages.

Deep space nine: Odo is awesome. I wish I had his powers.

It's not the captains that makes the shows, it's the rest of the crew.
I'm on hitatus while I redo one of my webcomics. Be sure to check it out when I'n done! :)

7 of 9's boobs could beat Riker's beard in a fight.

That's true, but that's like pitting Jackie Chan against a Sherman Tank. A more fair fight might be between Riker's beard and Evil Negative Universe Spock's beard.

There was that time that Picard got stranded on a planet with some woman who tried to seduce him, and even kissed him, and then was later revealed to be a DUDE!
