Just curious, and kind of wanted to do a sort of basic poll, but how many of you DDers have piercings, and where?

I have two holes in each ear (not for lack of trying… I've had them pierced at least nine times, but they tend to get infected easily.) and a piercing in each nostril. At one point I had an eyebrow ring, but it was never happy, and I ended up taking it out. I also had a cartilage piercing in my ear, but it was the same story as the eyebrow (but with bonus pliers when it came time to try to take it out.)

I've got one tat on my wrist and two stars on each shoulder, all done in solid black.

So what about you guys? Tell me, tell me. I want to know how alternative the Duck really is.

I have neither, but I've been thinking about getting a kanji on my arm. Maybe ookami, like in my avy.

I'm always leary of kanji tats, mostly because of http://www.hanzismatter.com/, but they are pretty graphically striking. I'd just have people triple and quadruple check the writing before getting it inked permanently on my person. ;)

I have two holes in each ear, one regualr sixed and one 00g, a septum ring (the middle of my nose) and my navel. I used to have my lip as well, but I got trid of it about a year ago. I got it when I was 18 because I wanted to be like Davey Havoc. :-)
I don't have any tattoos, in spite of how I tend to draw myself. I am fascenated with tattoo flash and I actually looked into finding a tattoo apprenticeship a while back, but personally my fear of commitment stops me from getting tattoos. I do keep thinking about shaving me head and getting a tattoo on my scalp, though.

Two holes in each ear. Pierced tongue that I'm surprised I've had for over 10 years now. And a small dragon tattooed on the back of my neck.

Not very hardcore either. :) The ear piercings are pretty tame. And I've known some people for years before they even realize I have my tongue pierced.

Plus I have really long hair, so again, sometimes people I've known for awhile are shocked when I wear my hair up and suddenly they realize I have a tattoo.

No piercing's here

I have a tattoo on my left arm of a simple wooden cross with “forgive me” written on it. I need to get it filled in with some browns to look more like old wood. Next I want to get a celtic cross with solid green and white weave behind it. Then I'm getting “FIDELITY” going down my forearm in victorian lettering, and then, when I'm a rockstar, or a successful enough artist that I dont have to have an office job, I'm going to get a sleeve of solid black flames mixed around the two tattoos that goes up around my neck.

Then I'll probably stop.

Make sure you go to an artist with a lot of experience using white… I hear it's the most difficult color to do well.

Tattoos are addictive! I've got big plans for my spine, and eventually the rest of me as well. Nothing like full sleeves, but I want tattoos all over. I'm a fan of solid black tribal-type work, but I definitely want to go to an artist with a lot of experience doing tribal… it's difficult to get a solid color on, so I want to find someone who specializes. Fortunately, I'm in NYC, and there are a couple of artists I've got in mind. Now if only I could save up enough money! It's going to be, like, a million dollars for what I want. (Okay, several hundred, but that's just as out of my range at the moment.)

People ask sometimes about whether I'm afraid that having a tattoo on my wrist will keep me from getting certain kinds of jobs… and that's a part of why I got it, to be honest. I know that anyplace that would require me to cover it is a place I would be unhappy working. So it's a way to keep myself in line, even when white collar benefits sound appealing.

It's also the only color that can't be removed via laser surgery, so you're stuck with it no matter what.

personally I'm not a fan of the little autonomous tattoos in various places. I like tattoos that are cohesive, like one solid work of art

and yes they are addictive, the DAY i got mine I started thinking bout what else I could do

I had a eyebrow ring once. Then I lost my job because of it. So it came out. Still wish I could get it redone. My husband's not so up on the matter. And I thought it was pretty hot. *rolly eyes* Go figure.

I have my ears pierced just normal and I have a tattoo on my left upper arm that I'm constantly saying I'm going to finish. It's a little bit different than my main character's in the my comic.

When I was 10, I had my ears pierced. The first two weeks were great, then when I was sleeping…the earing back actually slipped inside my earlobe. It didn't really seem like it was in there, the flesh was just swollen. So I took the earrings out and assumed the back just fell off. A bit after that, a major infection…got the earring back out, and decided never to get anything pierced ever again. It's healed now, but that was possibly the worst month of my life.

No offence, or anything, but it is nearly impossible to tell that your tattoo is in between your shoulder blades without you saying so. I remember even sub got confused by it.

I only have the traditional pierced ears, but I have made custom tatoos for my friends :) Here are two that are popular:

Designing tattoos is just as addicting!!

Maybe I should mention that my mother has lots of tattoos, but none of the suit her. A heart with a axe in it, a violin, etc…but she had one on her arm, I barely remember it…and here's why…

It was a large heart on her arm (between elbow and wrist). Because she couldn't wear a t-shirt without it showing, she couldn't get a job where we lived. Now this might freak some people out, but I saw this when I was really little, so keep that in mind. One night she scrubbed it off with blech and steel wool. Eww, and ouch. Sure it's gone, but now she has a huge white pearly scar in the shape of a heart.

My lesson: Make sure I know what I want before I get it on me XD I'm too chicken shit to do that.
