AIRBANKS — An 81-year-old man was Tasered during a traffic stop last week.

It is the second time since 1998 that police have had to make a show of force during a traffic stop to arrest Glen M. Wilcox, a Fairbanks-based Episcopalian priest and real estate agent.

I love the police.

That 81 year old man deserves it.

He clearly is a terrorist. And how brave of the police to subdue the terrorist.

Goddamn it, Kyupol…

There's a difference between “tasered a non-compliant perpetrator” and “beating up an 81 year old man”. Do you actually read any of this stuff you post? You certainly never respond to the glaring inaccuracies that people always point out in your posts.

This is a man with a history of non-compliance with police procedure. People don't just arbitrarily start shocking old dudes to prove a point. Do you think there's some kind of “minimum evil test” that has to be passed in order to become a figure of authority?

Being past a certain age doesn't make you automatically exempt from the law. If the police start questioning you then you comply. Even if you disagree with their motives, actively assaulting them (which this old man did, by the way) is not going to help your case. There are corrupt police officers, yes, but if you act like every police officer who does something you disagrees with then you're an immature jackass who deserves to get tazed, no matter how old you are.

I highly doubt he reads any of the posts in his threads, or his insanity filters out all the posts pointing out how stupid he is. (hell he probably thought your mind control jokes were serious inkmonkey)

Regardless Kyupol is pretty much just spamming WTH now.

yes, the police are pretty heavy-handed and there's lacking power against their abuses.

Do you have any plans on how to actually fix it you're trying to enact instead of hoping someone ELSE gets riled enough to do something? No? Than sit down and stop being part of the problem.

The man is 81 Ink, tasering is actually worse- that's basically a device that induces heart attacks in vulnerable people.

With Kyupol you have to understand that he is serious about this stuff. His raison d'etre is to “wake people up” to the “truth” of things. Not to change them himself, but to "shock you out of YOUR complacency“ so you will join him and help convince others, and eventually when they have enough people who ”know the truth", then you'll be able to chnge things. :)

He's of a particular libertarian mindset that holds the individual up above society. Any compromise the individual has to make to be a part of a community is unacceptable to them. Things like police brutality, vaccination, any government controls at all, taxes or anything like that are just prominent examples to Kyupol's people of why society is bad for the individual.

…Never mind that we only have all the scientific knowledge, all the products of civilisation and art today that we have, including but not limited to the internet, roads, cities satellites etc. only BECAUSE of organised society. the libertarian fantasy of every man for himself is just that and only that: a fantasy.

Yes Ozone, I am a libertarian and proud of it.

I oppose things like:
- big government
- high taxes
- too many police
- mass surveillance
- mass vaccination, fluoridation, etc.
- senseless wars of aggression
- mass brainwashing of the public
- monopolies
- etc.

I honestly believe that size of government is the biggest problem of the world today. Government by nature (I don't care if you call it fascist or socialist or religious theocracy or whatever…) is corrupt and decadent and is responsible for millions of deaths in the 20th century alone (start reading about Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union to start). Government by nature only seeks to expand itself and serve as a parasite over the people in the name of “keeping them safe”.

However, I also respect other people's views of supporting the police and big government as I am for freedom of speech.

I am only here to post the facts. And let the chips fall where they may.

While it is true that it was probably a bad idea to tase him, I kind of wonder how many other options they had. The guy was non-compliant, and refused to be handcuffed. If you just tried to force it on him then you risked breaking his wrists. The protocol for this situation states that use non-lethal methods of enforcement in cases like these. It's unfortunate that whoever thought out procedure didn't take into consideration extremely elderly perpetrators, but this man was apparently large and relatively strong, so I can understand the officers not perceiving him as a “frail old man.”

Anyway, Kyupol, from what I've seen you don't actually understand most of the things you oppose. You're against big government, but you're also against monopolies? Government intervention is what prevents monopolies. If they had the option, every company in the world would make itself a monopoly: it's just good business!

Heh, the cops do way worse to people who don't offer any resistance. All you have to do is be the wrong skin color, and you can get beat up or even shot by police in some states… in fact, here in Texas, cops are allowed to ROB you.

Technically, what they do is claim they suspect you of committing a crime (and they don't even have to say what crime they suspect), and any valuables and cash you have are sent to Forfeiture Court. Then, the judge, who gets a cut of everything, will agree with the prosecutor (who also gets a cut), that your property is indeed forfeit…

In one particular county in Texas, the prosector has a huge beach house on the gulf coast, bought and paid for with money mostly from people who were pulled over for no reason other than easy money for the top dogs.

I don't call myself a libertarian per say, but I am aware that in America we spend 60% of our income on taxes, because every time you buy ANYTHING, you're paying sales taxes, use taxes, excise taxes, and any other taxes Walmart, Exxon, Dell (pick a company) has to pay in the various stages of production and distribution.

I'm all for law and order, and let's face it, if the old guy was black, they would have Rodney King'ed his ass and he'd have a lot more for his trouble than some taser burns :P

Man… I feel sorry for the police. People seem to be under the impression that a person would only become a police officer if they were evil, racist thieves. Like you're going to automatically start beating black people and stealing from innocents the moment they pin the badge to your chest.

- mass brainwashing of the public

I agree, I'm sick of mass brainwashing of the public. Your method of the occasional brainwashing of paranoid people is much better.

As for libertarians, that kind of describes me, just way less extreme. Most people who call themselves libertarians are just anarchists who want to sound smart, and that pisses me off.

yea ! annarki sounds gret. but we all hav to go to space to make it work. and also have a way to transmute energy directly to matter and travel faster than lite with robots of all kinds. once all those are acomplished we can safely expirement with this annarki concept.
