Question about Cons

Earlier this year the Random Pirate Comics crew was at both Sakuracon and Emerald City ComiCon. Both cons went pretty well for us, and we would love to do more shows this year. The problem is we can’t really travel that far to get to them for various reasons, so we’re wondering if anyone knows of any cons that will be in the Washington state or Oregon areas later this year or even next year.
I would be willing to go as far as California, but convincing my brother (who is the artists I work with) to go would be difficult. I’m in the process of trying to convince him to do APE next year.
So, any suggestions?

I'm also doing that other comic "Space Waffles".

Well yes, there is the San Diego ComiCon, but how are they in regards to independent comics?
We’re hoping to find some that focus more on that aspect of comics than on the big names, but hey, we’re up for whatever. :D

Webcomics and independents have a pretty good presence at San Diego, just the prime real estate goes to the big publishers. Most people take the time to walk around the floor a little, and if the little guys have actually interesting-looking booths rather than the same type of booth as everyone else, they can do pretty well for themselves.

That said though, I assume buying any kind of space at San Diego is terribly expensive, on top of travel/hotel costs.

I know for the last 2 Augusts there has been a mini-con (2 days) named Fandemonium in Boise. I wouldn't be able to tell you too much about what is going on this year, but they seem to be a con for all types of fan-type stuff (comics, webcomics, anime, cosplay, gaming, etc).

Boise should be doable. I’ll have to look into. Thanks for the heads up.

I was about to suggest Fandemonium as well. I've gone each year and it keeps getting better. Typically I've been involved in the webcomics forum they hold and I hope to do likewise this year.

Did your website get ‘wanged’ after they posted that about you?

It actually worked out great, because we got about 10,000 unique visitors while the post was on the main page, then it tapered off pretty quickly by the end of the week, so we had no outages.
I'm really grateful that they mentioned us as our regular readership since then increased about 1000% (from about 20 a day to 200 a day)
I've also noticed track backs to people's blogs, forums, etc. which have so far all said good things about our comics.

Speaking of cons, can I count on any of the more Canadian members of the site to be at AnimeNorth?

stuff

Borneo is very nice and when I went to Fandemonium all the people attending were nice too. :) They even put me on a webcomics panel even though most people were there to listen to the Schlock Mercenary guy (also nice). :)

Borneo:

Thanks for the invite! We’re in Washington state, so it’s about an 8 hour drive for us to get to the con according to a quick mapquest check, so it sounds doable for us.
I will double check with Jeremy (my bro/the artist for our comic) and see if he is interested, but if he can’t my wife and I could always run the table. I will get back to you as soon as I can!

Well, it’s official, we will be at Fandemonium! (I got the time off from work approved today :) )

We will have our books for sale at the table, as well as whatever shirts, buttons and posters we have on hand.
I’m hoping to get stickers done for the con as well. This should be a lot of fun!
