well if you were pretending to be a demon… wouldn't the demon be pretending to be a normal person to influence people to do evil things… it wouldn't reveal its nature making the entire excercise pointless.

True Evil is entirely too subtle to ever show itself to the likes ofa conspriacy theorist. The demonic entities they purport to see and fight are merely the effects of human mental illness.

Real evil entities always slip right by them because they have such limited definitions of things as Good and Evil. There is law and chaosbut even chaos is ruled by law.

Wrap the inside on the outside and it's the real fig newton.

Kind of obvious; female Shepard is Ivanova from Babylon 5. Long live Ivanova and never question Ivanova because she is always right.

@Hippie Van -
Thanks for sharing your story (as I remember, I liked a bear story you shared awhile back :-).

I think you might be right about it being harder on the parents. As a generality, parents hope to preserve that short-lived innocence for as long as possible (which I think means kindergarden) and when there's a trauma, there's a little heart-break to see an innocent hurt. I experienced something like that when my daughter's arm was broken at age 1-1/2 (altho today you'd never know).

Very young kids themselves don't have the perspective of “what might have been” or “what should be”. For good or bad, they are at the point of “what is”. With that framework, and with the amazing recuperative powers of the very young, they're generally OK.

But when the cocoon most parents want to keep their little ones cracks, there are so many emotions to deal with in addition to the task/s at hand.
I really trust that Ally Haert's little guy will be OK. He's not the one who will be full of worry and angst, which too many times are such useless distractions. But sometimes if you can channel the energy from going into worry and into the needed assertiveness to get through the medical/insurance stuff and the nonstop challenges of the day, it'll smooth out. I firmly believe Ally has the spirit to get through this, and probably better than most. I so decree it.
You TOO can be (multiple choice)

My three year old seems to struggle with the concept of sleeping at night for some reason. He woke at 3am and went around jumping on everyone while they slept. little sod.

No big deal. It's when adults do that when it really stinks. Especially for an over night security guard who wants to work on his comic.

But then I do that ever since that service station job. I habitually get up at 3 AM. Except I just creep off to the computer.

Give him a bugle and hand him over to the army.

Well I have an annoying family that have only recently moved in next door to me. They have 3 very young kids who scream like retarded monkeys every morning and evening, So I cannot sleep in on weekends at all and if I have a nap in the afternoon (on any day), I'm rudely awakened.

The problem is facilitated by the fact that my bedroom is on the side of the house that faces theirs, my window is always a bit open for my puss-cat to come through, but worst of all is the fact that their crappy house doesn't keep its sound in. The people before them partially knocked it down (was all double brick) and rebuilt it with plywood and chipboard among other things. It looks like a very stylish building on the outside, but its thin wood walls make it like the sounding body of a guitar.
They're just renting short term though so I'm pretty sure they won't last more than a year.

Ugh… shopping for a new video card. The sales guy keeps trying to convince me that the more expensive cards are better for gaming than the one I'm looking at; the GeForce 520. Now I'm just a casual PC gamer. I'm not looking to play a game at resolutions higher than 1024x768 as my monitor won't support anything too much higher than that (right now it's at its max resolution of 1280x1024). I've been told that the GeForce 520 will do decently at my chosen resolution for games, yet this guy keeps telling me that it's better to get the more expensive cards despite me telling him my budget for video cards isn't that big. Right now I'm looking to get an AMD system with a CPU running at 3.2 GHZ and 4 GB RAM, and maybe a 500 GB hard drive before those (so I have lots of storage space whether I really need it or not). I guess it must be one of those commission things…

It's usually always best to either get a mid-range card or the second or third from the best… you get more bang for your buck that way. The best usually always cost waaay more than even the secon best but only ever has a teeny perfornace increase.

Almost every Nvida card I've ever bought had to be replaced in about 2 years (sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less), whereas A couple of ATI cards I have have been running for ages… I still prefer to get Nvidias though because they're pretty and green. ^_^

What Ozone said, also ignore sales guys they will always try and upsale.
@Ozone, all kids scream like retarded monkeys… wish I could gag mine at times. Still the simple solution is to keep them occupied enough that they don't burn of their energy running around screaming first thing in the morning. But it isn't something you can do.
get an air rifle and snipe them when they are being noisy.

Lonnehart, you might want to try checking a website like newegg.com for reviews of the graphics card you're about to buy. Usually they have a lot of people who have tested the thing and are more honest than a salesman. Then, even if you don't buy it at newegg, you can walk into the store a more educated person.

For most of the time I've used the Nvidia graphics cards and had no trouble. But just recently I switched to an ATI card. It works fantastic for games, but there are a few minor visual annoyances in Windows, and probably stemming from the fact that I have two monitors and they are different sizes. It's not even really a problem.

I do miss Nvidia's easy updates and support, though.

I'd buy from NewEgg if I could, but the shipping rates to U.S. territories can be… expensive. And that's if they even ship to the territories at all (I know Amazon.com won't ship anything but DVDs and other small things to this place). Still, it's better to make an informed choice than jumping into the unknown…

I'm so excited. My husband and I have picked out his new car and we are going to go purchase it today. It is an orange Kia Spectra. The only thing I'm a bit concerned about is that he was rating trunks on if they can hold a stroller or not…

speaking about cars. I rode the bus; like I usually do ‘cause IM cheap but that’s not really the story, and I saw three orange pickups in row, all with a mini crane on their back and a guy driving every single one in a yellow west.

I'm sure it means nothing but was kinda strange sight…

I'm not going to sign up - Vics Vaporub is not my idea of a christmas present. At my age and with two kids, not smelling of Vics Vaporub would be a pretty good gift.

This is a sobering moment… In all the years I've worked with this company I've only had to call out once (where I tell them I definetly CAN'T come in). And tonight is day 2. My car's gone down when I need it most, and it's too dark to go out biking (and it'd take too long anyway). And this means I've lost a day of work. I guess all I can do isenjoy this night off as best as possible… even though it's cost me $58…

And now I feel… not so great. I like enjoying my days off, but only if I know I've earned them. Tonight doesn't feel so great…

*edit/addon*-
Ugh… I'm jealous of you people living in the more northern/southern latitudes right now. Winter is nipping at your heels I bet. But on my end…

I'm trying to work outside, but the sun is trying to roast me to death. If I could, I'd trade some of the 90+ degrees of hot humid weather I have right now for a few degrees of your frigid winter temperatures…

Thanks everyone for the well wishes! Our first appointment with the plastic surgeon is in the morning,. We'll find out then what kind of post-healing operations will be required.
When we were at the emergency ward they wrapped his hand in gauze after sanitizing and placing some anti-bacterial cream on the site. To discourage him from using his hand they wrapped all his finger together and immobilized his hand. Then they proceeded to emphasize for the next ten minutes while we were signing off on all the paperwork that under NO circumstances at all was the bandage to be removed.

So ofcourse the first thing our son did when he got home was take off the bandage. Three times. In one night. Each time we had to clean and rewrap the wound ourselves.

Here we are almost a week later. I sincerely hope that healing wasn't affected by changing the bandages so much.

He's also having an adverse reaction to the codiene they put him on. It's preventing him from sleeping. Since his injury he hasn't been sleeping more than four hours a night. Did I mention that I have two other kids beside him?

Someone get this kid some Tylenol PM!

Oh yeah, and we found out yesterday that I'm pregnant. Apparently birth control has failed us. AGAIN. I'm getting my tubes tied this time. Contraceptives are useless!! Third timethey've failed us.

Also…..the last panel on this comic page is kicking my ass. Why do I insist on backgrounds? I think I'm just going to go with lovely black and white shading and vague shapes from now on, no more of this scenary business. Oy vay….

Good to see he's doing well. I always thought changing the bandages often would be a good thing. Keeps infection from really settling in. Hopefully this won't have a lasting effect on his personality. I've still got a scar on my left index finger due to me playing with a hot stove…

Heh… wow… pregnant again? And to think centuries ago women would be overjoyed at being so.. “fertile”. Ah, well… I guess you already have more children than you can handle.

Jeez… now you're making me wish I had children myself. Which is unlikely to happen…

I wouldn't say more than I can handle, exactly. It's definitely overwhelming when they are all as young as they are. Having two in diapers at any given time in time consuming. Four kids isn't too bad, it's just that the oldest will be four, the next will be three, and the last will be one and a half when this baby is born. They're so back to back that it's making my head spin!

We're going to just stop having children for a while after this. Me and my husband still desperately want to adopt, though, so maybe when some of our older ones are grown up enough to help we'll start the adoption process as well.

If you can't tell, we're kind of fond of large families. :)

Also, if one more person asks me “Wow, haven't you figured out what causes that?” in response to my newest pregnancy, I swear upon everything holy I am going to launch into the most vulgar and graphic description of sex I can muster.

Sounds like a challange :)
I won't though.
To get the little chap to sleep better you could ask the doc for an alternative prescription? The pills I have for my migraines have codeine in as well as Doxylamine Succinate (2mg), which is an antihistamine and mild sedative. (helps me sleep through the pain). Anyway, pills with something like that in could help.

Lonne- changing the bandages more also means more chance of infection getting in. Nasty.

I took the wife to the wound specialist last week and changing the bandages on a festering wound is what he told us to do, but you have to soak the gauze with saline to draw out the infection.Lovely celluitis bacterial infection. Painful and nasty but it's beginning to look better.
When I was in the Army I got a case offirst degree sunburn. Burned off the first couple of layers of skin on my forearms. I had to change the dressing on my forearms twice a day and keep the wounds covered in calomine lotion. And I had to stay out of the sun, in the middle of a bright sunny summer.

Yes Bravo, it's a case by case basis. In the example of your burns the important thing would be the calamine lotion needing to be replaced because it dries out and you need to keep the skin moist. For your wife you say the wound was “festering”, so if it's already infected, then it'll constantly need clean dressings.

——-

UGH! Funny how one small thing can lead you to a massive pile of compounded errors isn't it?

I noticed the parting on Ace's hair was on the wrong side in my latest page that I'm drawing currently. That lead me to other errors… His hair part was wrong on the previous page too, AND the guns on Pinky's Mecha were switched around- which was a lot more serious since it's sort of a plot point that the gun on one side was blasted off with a direct rocket hit, while the other was just torn off as a side effect… If it had been the other way around there would've been a big explosion because the other weapon has a tank of fuel…

This meant I had to go back and flip panels and do redrawing on 3 previous pages.
Damn, continuity is a bitch!

Now if I could only get my characters looking the same from page to page…

We were watching football last night and there was a commercial on the TV with a door bell ringing. When my dog heard it, she ran to the front door of the house. Since it was so funny, we rewound that part of the commercial about 10 times and watched her run between the front and back doors trying to figure out who was ringing the bell. By the 11th time, she figured it out and stared at the TV.
