They already have action figures out to try and cash in off this ridiculous movie.
We saw them about a month ago at the toy store and got a good laugh, but really.. Its saaaad.
For $8 a piece you too can own a limited articulation, cheap, ugly painted, old-ass rocky !!

but the worst one was an action figure of the meat from the meat locker. (sold seperately.)

Or Rocky 8, where he boxes from beyond the grave!

And don't forget the Spider Rico figure, I know I've just been DYING for one of those since I saw the film!

Anyway, I think they'll likely have him whup the kid's ass, which would be a let-down. The reason I liked the original Rocky far more than any of the others was the fact that he didn't win. It would be interesting if that came full circle and he just didn't have it for once in his life since that first Creed match.

I have never even seen the originals. My lack of interest in boxing makes this movie look pretty unimpressive to me.

it's funny to watch cause they fast forward stallone to make him seem faster..but when you do that the crowd is fast forward too, so it seems like they are getting elrectrecuted

They can fix that by filming the fight in front of a blue screen and putting the crowd in afterwards with CG.

I really can't believe that this film was made. I thought that Rocky V pretty much killed the franchise. I just saw the trailer and I can tell this is going to have suck written all over it. I think that Sly should've just left well enough alone.

Why is it so far-fetched? Both Larry Holmes and George Foreman came out of retirement in thier 50's, and went up against fighters half their age. And WON, by the way.

They mention that he doesn't have speed anymore, so I don't know why they'd be speeding anything up. No, I think you'll see him lose. But gain respect. Anyway, that's my guess.

I for one love the Rocky movies. It's one of the greatest, most inspirational, most sucessful franchises out there. It's all about the underdog, baby. I certainly would like to see a 50-60 year old boxer take a younger smart ass, smart mouth to school. That was the best part of Million Dollar baby, btw. And the Rocky musical score is ageless and kicks much ass.

I will remain optimistic about this film. Besides, no way in hell it will be worse than Rocky V.

I agree on these points but, while I hope it will be a decent addition, I think there is extreme potential for suckballitude because of what I've seen of the setup. It looks too similar to V for my taste, with the disrespectful whippersnapper. Plus there's a lot of potential for them to throw in meaningless shit scenes for nostalgia's sake (he will box meat and run the steps in Philly, no doubt). Stuff like that was inspiration at first, in Rocky, but it will be stale if we see him do it again because some genius executive wanted Rocky fans to legitimize it as a Rocky movie, rather than just make a good movie.

Hey, did Talia Shire die? I can't seem to find definite proof on the intarwebz.

Talia's alive, but she isn't listed in the credits and I didn't see her in any recent footage. Will the lack of Adrian be a plot point? The wikipedia article for the film has “spoilers,” I'll check their accuracy later today. The article is to be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_Balboa_%28film%29

EDIT- I checked on it, but don't want to ruin the movie for y'all:
The official site says Rocky is running a restaraunt named “Adrian's” after his late wife.

Don't get me wrong. I love the Rocky movies, too (Except for V). And being from Philly myself, the movies are pretty special to me (My dad used to live in the neighborhood where Rocky I, II, and V was filmed).

The story isn't far-fetched. Anyone who watches boxing and wrestling will usually see a fighter every now and then that's in their 50's or older.

I hope that the movie is good, and I agree with SpANG that it can't be worse than Rocky V. But the trailer I saw really didn't impress me. Then again, it wouldn't be the first time that I saw a bad trailer for a movie. Then the movie itself turned out to be good. We shall see.
