Bigger version of this pic.

Based on the hit Broadway musical which tells the infamous story of Benjamin Barker, a.k.a Sweeney Todd, who sets up a barber shop down in London which is the basis for a sinister partnership with his fellow tenant, Mrs. Lovett.

I love Tim Burton movies, they're just so much fun to watch…and this new one looks particularly interesting because it's about a couple of crazies. Unsurprisingly for Burton, it stars Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. And I'm sorry, Johnny Depp's always been a good actor, I knew that even before Pirates of the frickin' Caribbean.

(Sorry, kind of double posted this…though I think I got rid of the other one.)

I've already got the song running through my head. I WAS Sweeney Todd in college, what a fun musical.

Well, Depp and Carter are his go-to actors, so no suprise there. I'm just glad he's going to stop riding the Nightmare Before Christmas wave (for once) and take a chance with this. I'm looking foward to it!

Thanks for posting this, I hadn't even heard about this until I saw this!

I am familiar with the story and the musical and am truely looking forward to see this…my only concern is if its the musical how Tim will handle the songs filming wise.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's going to be like the Broadway version, thus a musical. (Again, I think.) And so Danny Elfman will most probably be in charge of handling the music…and he's usually pretty good with that sort of thing.

He'd BETTER be good at it by now. He only does the music for damn near EVERYTHING

Everyone loves Tim Burton nowadays. I still remember being “weird” for liking his movies so much in high school.

I'm pretty mixed about this. On one hand, I've always loved both Johnny Depp and Tim Burton. And together they're brilliant. However, I've also always disliked musicals. Tough call.

The only thing I hate about this movie is that Angela Lansbury will not be reprising her role, but Helena Bonham Carter is a good choice to take over.
