Teen Titans is CHEAP!

Has anyone checked out Amazon.com's pricing of the Teen Titans boxsets lately? $14. Geez, that's like HALF the price of a graphic novel. Now normally I wouldn't even think of buying this series because it was only average, but for that price I might change my mind.

Anyway just thought I should tell people about this deal.

I keep wondering if the new Trouble In Tokyo OVA will actually pick up where the TV show left off, when that elemental monster kept evading the Titans, and Terra mysteriously re-appeared.

Yes, you do suck. And yes, you probably will get shot for it someday. I don't know when or where, just more than likely that will happen in all given probability.

on most circumstances i would have bought this set…but the whole show just got killed at the end. I really wish they'd done some big explodey final season thing, there was just no closure.

What was behind Slade's mask?
Who was the Red X thief?
Why the crap wasn't any of Gotham Cities villains in their?
Why am I too lazy to find the comics and answers these questions myself?

I agree. I loved the show, but the way it ended hurt a little. I'd like to think that the upcoming straight-to-DVD movie would tie up some loose ends, but it features them going to Tokyo. I'm sure they'll be too busy dealing with their new environment and exploiting America's current Japan-lust to deal with Slade, Terra, or any other things I wish they would have done. But maybe I'll just enjoy it as it's a little bit more of a show I liked.

Actually, we did see Slade with his mask off in the episode with Thunder and Lightning in it.

Also, Killer Moth was originally a regular costumed villain from Gotham that Batgirl fought in her first time out, although her was turned into an insect hybrid named Charaxes. KM was also featured in the original un-aired Batgirl premiere episode from the Batman TV series from the 60s, and will be shown on The Batman series this fall on Kids WB.

Paying a penny for a turd is pretty cheap. Would you buy that too?
I agree. It doesn't matter how cheap it is, shit is shit. That's like seeing Independence Day on the shelves for 3 bucks and buying it just because of the price, ignoring the fact that the movie licks balls.

Because it was Teen Titans, not Batman. So it focased on Teen Titan villians.

Titans' bad guys aren't exactly limited to the Titans' comics. Dr. Light, the male one, was first a Justice League baddie, then a member of the Fearsome Five of which Psimon, Mammoth, Gizmo, and Jinx were also members of. He also spawned was the inspiration for a female Dr. Light who became a superhero and a regular on-and-off member of the Justice League. The HIVE(which in the TV series was founded by Brother Blood)were a criminal originization in DC comics similar to Marvel's HYRDA group, and they first appeared as an originization bent on destroying Superman. Also, the Brotherhood Of Evil was first an enemy of the Doom Patrol before they bothered messing with the Titans. So, alot of the villains from the TV series were not in fact originally regular Titans villains from the comics.

Dr. Light was a frequent TT villian in the comics. And the Fearsome Five as well, I belive. I could be wrong, I know they've recently gone against the Outsiders.

But prior to his forming the Fearsome Five, Dr. Light was a regular JLA nemesis. Also, the Gordanians who were the aliens that originally kidnapped Starfire into slavery where she escaped and came to Earth from the flashback origin episode, they were the alien race that the Thanagarians were trying to destroy during the series finale to Justice League, and they were regular enemies of DC Comics' Omega Men.

Is it all the teen titans episodes? If so that's a steal. I'm not really into that show, I'd much rather watch the older DC shows, but it's not bad.

I've read almost the whole of the eighties New Teen Titans, and now I'm picking up the new Teen Titans trade paperbacks, and I am kind of getting into them. Normally I'm a mega purist, not about the re-vamps, but what they've got going on in the (relatively) current storylines is pretty badass. Return of Dr. Light? Whew. Nothing like watered down TV Dr. Light. It's the real thing.

Anyway. The TV show didn't really float my boat. It's fine to stylize, make things ‘edgy’ (or whatever) for kids, but really I just kept waiting for them to pay homage to SOME kind of comic book story arc, and it was always just a big, watery, let-down. Not likely to buy.

Now, DC's puting on their new Legion Of Superheroes on Kids WB with the same theme. It's based on the idea of the DC animated universe, but takes place outside the already established continuity.

Rofl… found.

I would never buy an incomplete set of anything. They make you dish out more money for the next installment. That's why when I buy Tv/Movie series that I like, I get the complete box set.

^Applies to movies and tvshows only.

Yeah, I'm even thinking of possibly buying "The Batman" season 2 because it's said to have the best episodes of the series in it (although my original impression was that the whole series sucked). It's cheap anyway…

The villains on "The Batman" were to over-hyped. Like they took the version of most of the guys from the 60s, and gave them an extreme 90s comics makeover. The only real effective bad guy Batman ever fought in that whole series was in the Dracula OVA they did.

And somebody please get some shoes on that Joker!

The show honestly is over styilized to me. But if you like them, pick up the comics, you won't be disapointed.

But the dvd price is very cheap, and worth it.

Yeah, I know. That show will never even begin to be a shadow of what the Batman Animated Series in the 90's was. But STILL. It's supposed to be watchable, and it's CHEAP.

Oh, and there's the added bonus that my Health teacher likes the show and I get extra credit if I know who the characters are and what their motivations are.

Thanks, I'm planning to buy all the seasons..
I think Teen Titans is one of my favorite kid hero dramas
Next to "Gargoyles" and "Batman Beyond",

I like the ending of the latest season but the movie sucked so much sweaty donkey-flopping balls that I almost killed myself,
No Slade, No Terra, no BB-R Love connections(It was a stretch to hope for)
Nothing.
I hate it when they ruin endings.
Bye,Titans. Time to go…

Beast Boy and Robin? They're both guys! Eeeewww!

Maybe they're saving anything with Terra, Slade, and that undisclosed elemental monster from the last episode for a later date.

I just watched the movie last night. I didn't like it much either… I mean, it would have been pretty good as a two-part episode. But it's probably the last we'll get of Teen Titans and they spent it cashing in on the big Japan-craze America is undergoing right now.

I was pretty much convinced there'd be no Terra or Slade. But I wish they'd just stayed in America and handled Slade instead of going to Tokyo to exploit every Japanese stereotype they could find.

On the plus side, it looks like the Teen Titans managed to catch a glimpse of me as I wandered the Tokyo streets:
