I don't think my dad knows that I can only miss one more digital class before I have to have an “attendance contract.” even though I have 97% in that class. What a stupid system.
I never understood that. When I was a student it'd be a pain because you'd know everything you needed and then you needed the
TIME to get the work done (at uni). Going to class just wasted valuable time.
Then when I taught it was the same thing! I
had to keep a track of student attendance… And even though plenty of students knew
exactly what they were doing and would pass easily, they were still going to take a hit on their marks because of poor attendance.
…so I cheated for those ones. :)
Their marks didn't reflect on me as their teacher in any way, if they'd have gotten low marks it wouldn't have mattered to my position, but I didn't want them to get a low mark when they were actually
doing the work and I knew they
HAD learned what I was there to teach.
Teaching systems should rely more on teacher judgement than that of some overworked administrative person with no idea about any of the particular subjects they're making general rules for.
