imo:
1. Sin City
2. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
3. Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus
4. Brick
5. Marche de l'Empereur
6. Batman Begins
7. Brothers Grimm
8. Why We Fight
9. Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
10.War of the Worlds

I believe I'm the only one that liked Brothers Grimm. Also War of the Worlds was very cool, but proved that when it comes to ‘BIG’ movie projects the public turns in to mercyless critics (why not just enjoy? I did)

Don't know if there already is a topic about this, but there isn't a search-option, so I wouldn't know.

This seems to be operating under the assumption that I remember 2005.

I do remember that my favorite movie of the past two years is Mysterious Skin. But that is because I love Gregg Araki. No one wanted to go see it with me, so I went, alone, in an Irish movie theatre, and I felt like a big ol' perv. But it was worth it.

I don't actually go to the movies much anymore.

Actually most people didn't like War of the Worlds because they hate Tom Cruise for being a dumbass ufo cultist.

2005? Where have I heard that before…?

Oh yeah, THAT 2005. Hah. Right. The Past.

Um…did The Incredibles come out in 2005? No, that was near the end of 2004…hmm…

I guess Batman Begins was okay.

going offa this list: http://www.themoviebox.net/movies/2005complete-list.html

I'll say…I only have a top 7

1. HISTORY OF VIOLENCE
2. 40-YEAR OLD VIRGIN
3. BATMAN BEGINS
4. GRIZZLY MAN
5. CRASH
6. SIN CITY (FRANK MILLER'S)
7. SERENITY

I haven't seen a lot of 2005 movies though…brokeback mountain was so overrated, what the hell? Just because it's the first movie with gay cowboys falling in love and shit people swear it was so damn good but to me, the storyline sucked.

You know, I'm somehow able to detach the pshycopath when I watch a movie with Tom Cruise in it. I just don't think about what a screwball he is and I enjoy the movie. I'm sure some other actor could have done it as well as him, but the thing is, he always appears in the BIG, important movies, so they end up having good potential. I loved Mission Impossible, Minority Report and War of the Worlds. I'm not saying I seek out Tom Cruise movies, but I have seen some good ones.

It'll be kind of tough for me to rank my favorite movies of 2005, but it might be fun. Odds are good that if it came out in 2005, it either had Morgan Freeman or Dakota Fanning in it. Sometimes both.

I'll come back to this topic with a list later. I think War of the Worlds will be near the top since it was probably my favorite movie of that summer.

My synopsis of History of violence:

These guys try to rob this guy, and he kills those guys. Then these other guys come, and he kills those guys too. Then he leaves town and kills some more guys. then he goes home, the end.

meh

Looking at the list of movies from 2005 makes me sad. It makes me even more sad when I think about how much time I must have wasted watching those movies.

that…that's pretty acurate actually, yeah. Still, fucking awesome movie to me. If Viggo Mortensen had been hotter, this movie would've made an all time favorite.

Oh Brick was good too…I forgot about Brick. That kid from 3rd rock was in it.

Yes, most people hate Tom Cruise, but from what I heard it was mostly the plotholes and the ending. I liked the ending a little bit, but there are two ways to define ‘the ending’

*spoilers*
1: The fact that it were those bacteria that killed the aliens. I liked that.
2: The fact that the mother and son were allright and were in a house that was still standing there and they just walked up to it very happily. That's the part of the ending I disliked. A little to cheap. I think it was because they didn't want to have a sad ending, but were affraid that it would be a too Spielberg-like happy end. Just simple and cheap.

But I'm thinking that maybe I should replace WotW with Girl in the Cafe or Corpse Bride, those were better.

That's not much of a spoiler considering the story's like over 100 years old and most people know it even if they have never read it. :P

I wish they'd do a film of the original and not all these dumb updated versions every single time: Set in late Victorian England. That would look amazing!

There actually is a film based on the original. It is a low budget independant film with shitty special effects, but completely pwns the new WOTW.
