Apparently this is supposed to be a new Transformers cartoon based on the movies or something. It's not a part of an episode. Instead it's a short that was aired to promote the show.

Edit:
Holy crap! What the hell did they do to our childhood!

Optimus Prime is no longer cool and even the blasted theme song is all wrong. Where's the robot voice!?!
Those were my two cents.

Gotta remember that the cartoon wasn't made for us older folk, but for the kids of today. True it doesn't have what I loved about the old G1 show, but I still find it interesting. It'd be fun to see how things develop between Optimus Prime and Megatron from here. After all, no one chooses their “nemesis”. Rather, you meet the same enemy over and over again and eventually figure out HE's the one who's messing up your plans time and time again. Or something like that…

Actually, it's not really based on the movie. It takes an element from the movie, but is it's own retelling of the story. Some elements are supposed to appeal to old school Transformers fans, but I think they have failed to really pick up that audience by going extra cheap on the animation and not really keeping all that true to the old style and characters.

Gotta remember that the cartoon wasn't made for us older folk, but for the kids of today.

Can't agree with that at all. Reusing the old theme, starting out the pilot with footage from G1, even trying to get some of the voices to sound like the old characters. They have too many throwbacks in the series to not be aiming it at the old fans as well. Just because they FAILED to appeal to the old fans, that doesn't mean they didn't intend to appeal to the old fans. Hell, they even got Weird Al to do the voice of Wreck-Gar. You can't tell me that wasn't an intentional throwback to the original animated movie.

You know, I have no idea who this little girl is supposed to be (or why the robots are hanging out with her for that matter) but boy does it sound fun to have some company with you where you can explain every little trivial thing that occurred around you, for example, oh let's say…. clapping.

P.S. Oh jees, I'm such a pedophile but I actually think that the design of that girl is cute.

… maybe it's because she's always smiling. I like people that smile…

What about this, Transformers Animated Episode 2: Garbage In, Garbage Out!

Wreck-Gar
I am Wreck-Gar! I dare to be stupid!

They went a lot further than just giving him a part, he even says the title of his own track that was on the Transformers: The Movie soundtrack.
