Update Times

Since I only recently began airing my webcomic, it's difficult to attract the attention of DD members since it's not linked on the front page very long after I update it. This being said, I've been trying to figure out a good time to make my updates (hour-wise). Setting it on the auto-update type of thing doesn't seem right, since it will update along with everyone else who uses it in my time zone…and thus it will have no time on the front page. But so far, I've updated at around 8:00 AM EST time, and it still doesn't last very long.

What do you all do, or at least what should I do?

Updating when the majority of members are awake (we're mostly an American board, right?) is probably a good idea, but I've gotten most of my pageviews simply by posting a whole lot on the forums (which it appears you haven't gotten around to yet) and by linking my comic in the “You've just updated your comic?” thread in Comic Discussion. :)

I have to agree. Updating at a time when everyone sees the comic can only go so far. If you post when many people can see it, you need a compelling reason for people to look at the comic (if I browse, I usually skip over comics with single-digit page counts and bad/no descriptions). You are better off going to the thread Morphic mentioned or plugging your comic when you have a fair amount of pages up. You're more likely to get attention and someone to read it that way.
That's “Dr. BlkKnight” to all of you.

Would you say, though, that people generally check webcomic updates in the morning? Or later at night after school/work.

Not sure - I don't update at those times. I'm sitting in Sweden, and update my comic every Friday ‘round noon. I haven’t bothered to check what time it is in America (either end) at that time.

The main thing is forum activity and linking your comic - even on other forums, if you happen to be a member anywhere else. If people see you, they're going to discover your comic as well.

The boards tend to be most active around 3 to 4 pm Central time. It seems a large majority of the folks here are either surfing while at work or in the case of the largest majority school aged kids.

That and if Midge finds your comic and starts commenting on it usually results in some attention. XD

Yeah, that's pretty much your best shot; he's already been canonized as the patron saint of webcomics.
