Thats kinda sad that you feel that way. yeah the problems a bitch, and I do like to see how I rank (normally around the 100 mark) but the thrill for me is the comic itself. I'm not being paid for this, and I have had to use a lot of self discipline to get into the ritual of updating at certain times. But in the end, even if I end up ranked several thousand below I do this for the love of doing it.

I have noticed that the image problem seems to occur only with comics uploading pages currently. However, my comic, in which I uploaded the images many months before all this happened, has had no problem with images appearing on the page.

That's because your pics are already on the server.

Our programmer says we're almost at completion. Fingers crossed!

Oh yesss pleasepleasepleaaaaase let it be fixed *prays hard*

Agree with Anubis, I don't draw comics for the rankings either, but simply because I like to have fun with drawing it =D The rankings are considered something plus~ ^^

I know this is stressful, but honestly, I'm quite patient. Rankings are very easy to get back, if you plot your auto-updates right.

I hardly draw for the numbers, anyway, like others have said. And even though I can sympathize with those who are restless, I can't believe some people are actually leaving/considering leaving over it… I mean, can't a site have a moment? It's not like people aren't trying to fix the problem. Not trying to be an ass-kisser or something, but DD has hardly ever presented a problem to me in the past 3+ years.

Waiting without a worry, do your best team.

Tim- you could always just keep drawing up more pages in the meantime, then release one-a-day, back-to-back when uploads are back up, until it catches back up to you not having a page ready to post.

One-a-day, everyday updates for 2 weeks increased readership for me ten-fold (not exaggerating), and that was after a 2 month-hiatus (end of year holidays). Disclaimer: I'm talking about real, fully-colored, story pages, by the way, and not fillers/fanart.

It's not hard to operate with, you just happened to join at an unfortunate time! Just wait until there is an announcement that it is fixed.

The weird part is that through this crisis, I've sometimes been able to get pages to upload on the second or third try. It didn't work at all this morning, though.

As far as the programmer can work out, we're being screwed by our server hosts. The guy is working extremely hard to get this fixed- over the weekend, everything.
He was meant to be finishing the store about now, but at the moment he has to work on both things at once. He's under a lot of pressure.

Please convey to this programmer that some of us greatly appreciate his efforts.

agreed. its harsh enough to deal with a crisis like this. still, weve been gob smacked ever since DD changed servers, and consistant uptime is pretty much the norm with companies today. which leaves me to wonder if a big company like platnum is going to get tired of this non-functioning server company too?

Agreed, drawing is fun. BUT… every single one of us is also drawing for an audience… otherwise we'd just keep our drawings in a sketchbook. It's very noble to say you're not interested in the rankings… but a noble lie :-) We all want as many readers as we can get… dare I say, ‘fans’. It's just very hard to set a plan of action, which I did, then have outside forces interfere with it's execution. I specifically chose to draw an adult comic, and make it a web comic, to get readers. Otherwise I'd go back to print comics.

And as said it's not the Admins' faults. But it is an unfortunate turn.

Didn't say I wasn't interested in rankings, I just think they don't matter very much on DD for a few of my own reasons (i.e. comics with more pages get more hits, genres attract more, thumbnails can affect hits, so on, so on…) XD

I have an audience, but many stem from friends, family, and people I've commented on.

But that's just me. Maybe rankings have another layer to them I don't see. *shrug*

I wouldn't say that's quite accurate. We did have several weekend ‘freezes’ while they were trying to switch servers, but that was a problem with database transfers and not in and of the servers themselves. In February we had no real problems (other than one or two short outtages I think), and this image problem has only been going on about a week. DD is, for the most part, a very stable site. It's had its share of unfortunate downtimes, but because DD is what it is, there's no backup mirror or whatever to take over if there's a problem on the main site.

Part of the reason Plat is so focused on this store is because they know that if the store is successful, it will make the site look good, it will bring in more people (and thus more ad revenue) AND generate itself some cash for some of the DD site improvements they've had to put off for a few years now.

Aha~ if I kept my stuff in the sketchbook only, I'd have lost it all by now, my house is godforsakenly beriddled with termites @D@ gawd I hate termites. Also, it's fun to share with good friends, I look at their stuff and get parody ideas and draw it and so do they in turn, it keeps us sane XDD LOL~~

Oh well, all to their own ends I suppose! :P

I dunno about other people but I'm having this issue at the present moment. I uploaded earlier in the day and being lazy didn't check, only to find out it never went up. I've tried re-uploading it several times to no avail. So dunno if it's just me stuck with this problem (since according to the last few posts other people are fine) or not.

Yeah it seems to be broken again currently.
Wired because I had a report of it being broken yesterday, but it seemed to be fixed when I checked it. But today it definitely IS broken.

No need for more reports of the same thing though now OK? I'll contact plat about it.

I considered mentioning this yesterday but thought against it.

I've noticed that in the past there is always a quick mess up that fixes itself before the larger fall out hits.
Perhaps in the future it may be prudent to contact Platinum on the 1st report of it? Even if it fixes itself?

I'm thinking the server runs out of space and then probably tries to clear some unneeded data to make room and that's why it always fixes itself.

We don't really like to cry wolf though.

You know DD's history, you'll know that it hasn't' always been easy and fast to get problems fixed.
Now that we are able to have someone there to repair things regularly, the last thing we want to do is abuse the privilege.

I like to be sure we really do have an issue before setting things in motion. :)

Our programmer is currently hard at work on it right this minute.

Not a problem. It's kinda why I didn't mention it when it 1st fixed itself.

Besides I have to cry wolf. It's ending you know :(
