What are those? UFOs? Just an optical illusion?

You be the judge.

Video too poor to have an opinion about what it is. Especially since it was all in nightvision green.

As soon as I saw the thread title I already knew who was posting it, though. Does that make me psychic?

It is pretty poor quality. Ehh. I don't know, seemed to me there was some form of light directly or near directly below each spoke of light coming from the ground (the video doesn't give a good sense of horizonal perspective either). The middle just looks like some clouds or haze. The candle-like shape of the light is interesting, but it doesn't make me think of anything otherworldly.
“You tell yourself to just
enjoy the process,” he added. “That whether you succeed or fail, win or
lose, it will be fine. You pretend to be Zen. You adopt detachment, and
ironic humor, while secretly praying for a miracle.”

Whatever it is, you'll never know. Most likely. Nightvision is the WORST thing they could use… It alterers the image as well as enhances very faint light sources. Man, ANYTHING looks weird through those things.

As such, those light effects could actually be just stars with the foreground and background distorted by the night vision process. Most likely though it's probably as simple as vertical search lights; the glow at different points along the beams being caused by partial reflection off cloud cover, coupled with the distortion/enhancement from the night vision process.

If it really IS Iraq they very likely do have those sorts of search lights there. You draw a long bow to go for aliens based on the look of the thing.

Agreed. Night vision creates a lot of noise by amplifying small variations. The more noise in the technique, the more likely you'll find “evidence” of the paranormal.

Ah, they're probably just weather balloons. Like those ones that came down in Nevada …

Oh my gosh! The insane video gamer was right! It's the penguins! They've finally made their move. Could this be the end…?
