What is the worst job?

I think its a back kitchen mcdonald's crew.

Its hazardous (risk for slips, getting burned with oil, exposure to extremely hot and cold temperature), shitty pay, no benefits, no stability, and you're required to come in and work 10 minutes for free at the beginning of the shift called “stacking up”. Where you stock up the burgers, the fries, and everything else. Other duties include cleaning the stinkhole washrooms, putting the trash in the back of the store, and other maintenance duties.

Cmon. For minimum wage, you're expected to do all that?

The only plus side though is it makes a good impression on your resume if you worked there for 6 months to a year.

I worked at Burger King for 3 months before. It's basically the same job, so I can agree with you.

Really? If I read that on someone's resume, I'd think they had mental problems!
In first world countries I don't know if there are jobs much worse than that… Coal mining is always pretty bad because people always get killed… But the pay must be alright? Call centres have a really high turnover of employees…
Some of the worst jobs I've heard of in developing countries are the breaking up of ships in India, (it's hazardous and they do it without protection), being a child soldier/prostitute in Somalia has to be right up there.
Um, sulphur mining by hand in South America (can't remember where exactly), but you'd die of respiratory failure after a while -they chip of blocks of sulpher by hand and cary it in baskets, so the work is fuking hard, they get paid almost nothing. Illegal Diamond mining (or is it emerald mining?) in the Congo is damn hard work, the pay-offs can be ok, but your ‘fellow’ minors might kill you… That has to suck. Plus, you make almost nothing compared to the dealers.

Discovery Channel has this show called Dirty Jobs and well…it's hard to beat those jobs. Some of them include roadkill collector, collecting volcanic “soil” for spas, cleaning up after animals in a zoo, a chick sexer, and a horse breeder (because sometimes putting a girly horse and a boy horse together just doesn't do the job. :S)

One awful job I've heard about is a deodorant tester. These guys put on deodorant and then work out on treadmills. After an extended workout, they stand with their arms up, and a person has to go one-by-one and smell their armpits to see how well the deodorant works.

You have to listen to the same 4 bars of “The Entertainer” over and over all day long.

Sex toy? Suck? What a pun!

I'll have to say working at a call centre. How many times can you say “How may I help you?” over and over and over again. Being a referee must also be bad. No matter what you do, somebody will hate you.

Somehow though, I tend to think this kid had it worse…

But as for something more mundane, how about a carer at an old person's home? That can't be fun… It'd be hard work for a start, you have to clean up a lot of unspeakable muck, deal with obstreperous old people, and be reasonably nice at the same time. No wonder they're such bastards!

what about jobs that require you to kill?

Like those poor people working like slaves in animal slaughterhouses?

http://www.goveg.com/workerRights.asp

I cannot do that job tho even for $30 per hour + benefits + flexibility + good working conditions. Unfortunately, I am lacking a killer instinct (in spite of seeing tons of ogrish and peta videos… and making brutal scenes in comics) and it might give me nightmares and be constantly depressed and shit. The real thing is always more realistic than a video.

I could never do that. I suffer badly from having an overractive conscience. Having to kill endlessly to make a living would utterly destroy me.

I shoveled coal one winter in high school. That sucked. The pay was good (the advantage of a job nobody else wants) but it was mundane as hell (shovel, shake, shovel, shake, shovel, shake, ad infinitum) and your spit/snot would blacken up after a few days. Plus the coal was usually in a basement or cellar already, not that far from the furnace, making it hot as hell the whole time you're down there.
Handshakes and mustaches are the only ways to know how much you can truly trust a man.

Not that it's nearly as bad as some of the stuff mentioned here, but have you ever been a waiter at Johnny Rockets?
Over here, as far as jobs go, that's pretty much below everything.
It's not that being a server sucks - I've waitressed before, and I quite liked it, but waiting at Johnny Rockets is… ugh… just, by far the most embarassing thing ever.

Besides the fact that you get 4.15 an hour, and the people give you, maybe, if you're lucky, 2 bucks for a tip (and I don't mean like someone ordered a burgr and fries, I mean hey ordered burger, fries, milkshake and something to go), you also have to wear a rediculous wedge cap, bow tie, the apron they give you, and be ready to dance to once of 5 songs whenever someone plays them on a jukebox. The coin changer is heavy, and you can get fired for not putting the glass down with the logo facing the customer.

Like I said - it's not as horrible as some jobs are, still pretty embarassing. Maybe it's a you have to have seen these people doing their jobs or have had it yourself knd of thing.

Try being a contract pumper in the oil field, not only is it very backbreaking, and expensive paing for the the gas to get from one well to the next, and the almsot yearly tire replacement, it's also verry dangerous when working with a pumping unit (my father got his hand caught in a fan belt and ripped off his pinky) also the damned company(s) you work for never pay on time.
