my normal imaging editing software that i use when i scan wont open at all. Ive sent the error report, scanned it for viruses (there were none) it just refuses to work. in the meantime, is there any free software apps that i can use to scan and edit a drawing in? or is there something on microsoft office?

any help would be appreciated. :)

Have you tried to deinstall and reinstall it yet? That usually helps.

Nick, same thing happened to me with a Lexmark printer/scanner and it seems I'm not alone. There was no fix for it - no driver downloads worked, or anything of that nature.
To get round the problem I use Microsoft Scanner & Camera Wizard, which is an option that appears when I click on the printer icon in ‘My Computer’ (this is in XP). I lose the image editing options of the original software this way, but the Gimp more than makes up for that.
If that doesn't work, you'll have to carry on watching Casablanca until expert help arrives!;)
Er……..boo!

but then on penciljack someone told me to download gimp because it was similar to photoshop and its letting me scan into there for now.

When I ran into this problem I searched all over the interwebs and discovered lots of other frustrated lexmark users! - nowhere could I find a fix, but as you've found it's easy to get round with other software.

I hope you're getting on okay with the Gimp. I soon got the hang of the basic features and I find it great for colouring scanned artwork, although I hear it's not so hot with graphics tablets. For letters and balloons, I've found Inkscape about the best of the freeware.

I'm not familiar with this porn Casablanca you mentioned though. Any good?!

yeah, it has an alternate 3-some ending.

i like gimp so far. Like ive said before in the gimp thread, I dont have time to mess around with it too much, so im still going to hand letter everything. but its decent for scanning and cleans up alot like ps does.

I found these both very helpful.

yeah i found that first one and i was trying to do it and it was very helpful….

until the part where it says “Move back to the dialogues window again, and click the Paths tab. Right-click the uppermost path on the stack and select Add to selection.”

they lost me there. I have the new gimp and i couldnt find the paths tab anywhere or add to selection. and uppermost path and the stack? huh?

hahaha im such a noob sometimes
