Then why don't you wash ‘em like everyone else? Slob. -_-
————–
Is there a difference between the first time you knew you were watching anime, or the first time you actually saw one but only found out later that it was?

So while Battle of the Planets was my first, I just thought at the time and for years later that is was just one of those cool but slightly strange cartoons with the girly looking men, big eyed people, with small noses and well drawn bodies- which is how I thought of Starblazers, Robotech, Speed Racer, Astro Boy and all the rest.

I didn’t really think of them as a different thing until the big Anime explosion in the 90's, when people were talking about it as if it was some new exciting thing, but I realised straight away that the cartoons they were bringing out were the same as the ones I'd been watching for ages already.

SO, the first one I saw that was “branded” as Anime would probably have been… Urotsukidoji maybe? Or Ghost in the Shell… Or the first Dominion Tank Police series…

Either Project A-ko, or Dominion Tank Police, or Venus Wars…

Dominion Tank Police is probably still my all time favorite

pokemon or DBZ.

I've watched a lot but most of them made my eyes burn.

Actually the first season of pokemon was great… the second season is where it started to suck.

It was Grendizer (a.k.a Goldorak)

I fucking love this show. Luckily, I found a store which sold it in 5 separate DVDs and that was awesome.

Project A-ko.then the old toonami block when it had dbz, sailor moon and ronin warriors and stuff like that.

it sounds like Toonami had a hand in it for most of us.

now adays, i dont really go out of the way for anime anymore, but i did see a few things a couple months ago i really liked. A wind named Amnesia was really interesting and then i fell in love with Votoms. though i missed most of the stuff before the Deadworld Sunsa saga. but that's a GREAT show.

Just short of two decades ago, probably Dragonball, followed closely by the Dragon Warrior anime. It was on a local station 6am on Sundays for some inexplicable reason but I was fascinated by how different it seemed from regular cartoons. I was also playing ‘Dragon Power’ for Nintendo and I noticed that it and Dragonball were strikingly similar. XD

ironic humor, while secretly praying for a miracle.”

actually, now that you mention it, i remember seeing Dragonball when i was like 6 during saturday morning cartoons and it was so fuckin weird looking.not that most late 80's/early 90's cartoons werent, but this one stuck out. i only saw it once or twice and out of all the weird ass shit i watch even NOW, i remember seeing Dragon Ball clear as fucking day.

The first anime I ever saw was Kimba the White Lion. It was beautiful series. Such a vague memory, though. I was just five years old and it was the Spanish dub. :p But the first anime I REALLY got into was DragonBall Z. Man, I was pissed when they took it off CN.

Technically it was Tobor the 8th Man (8man in Japan) which my Dad showed me but I really don't remember it very well.

The first one I actually remember seeing is either Speed Racer or Astro Boy and the first show I remember actually identifying as an Anime rather then just another cartoon was Tenchi Muyo which I accidentally tapped off Sci-fi when recording a monster movie marathon waaaaay back in the day. Of course I was very confused at to what was going on and wouldn't see the end of the movie or the anime series until over ten years later and in the mean time I started watching other anime series like Outlaw Star.
