I thought this could be a cool thread so people could share what they just saw or last saw and if they liked it or not…kind of like recommendations to check it out or not.
Reviews of recent rentals are welcomed as well…

I just saw Balls Of Fury

Definite Matinee. I liked it but full price was too much to pay to see it. I laughed a lot but there could have been more. It was like Enter The Dragon meets Karate Kid meets Ping Pong! They should have picked a different person for the lead. It was filled with c list actors. But Christopher Walken was great…he just needed more cowbell!

The Simpsons Movie

It was a good movie, not a great movie, not a bad movie. It's just a good movie. The better jokes lie in the background, not in the dialog. It's a movie where you have to stop and notice all the small funny things instead of the bluntly stated funny things.

When I watched it in the theaters, I had to deal with the idiotic 16-year olds yelling shit out. Such classics as, “DURRR-HURR, OTTO SMOKES POT AWESOME DURRR-HURR” and “DURRR THE EVIL MONKEY FROM FAMILY GUY, FUCKING FUNNY DURRR-HURRRRRR BRGHRGHRG.”

War - Don't bother. Or watch it on matinee price and only if you woke up too early, kinda like the action/Hong-Kong-type-cop genre, and can't think of anything else to do.

Stardust - It's ok. But I don't care for either of the 2 lead characters, who just look too dapper for my tastes. It's like you can see makeup powder trailing behind them when they run. The whole movie's like that.

Order of Phoenix - I didn't expect to enjoy it but I did, alot. And no I don't read the books and I haven't seen any of the earlier movies since #2. The only problem I have with it is that HP is a 30 y/o playing a 17 y/o; I felt they made a bad choice for the lead role ever since they announced movie #1. I think the critics are right; Emma Watson has great potential as an actress. I like how she never hogs the spotlight but never looks OOC either. I'm trying to draw her eyebrows; I hope she never plucks them into oblivion.

Order of the Phoenix

I was pleasantly surprised with some things, but still I found it left me with a bland, ‘blah’ feeling. ‘Nice’ is the only thing I can say about it, which probably is equal to ‘not bad’.

Still, it is the best Potter movie yet. Despite the lack of acting from certain chaps. ;)

Hairspray

It was funny and the songs were good. I especially liked it when they shouted out “Negro Day!”. Me and my mom started rolling in our seats when they said that.

Rush Hour 3 - It was all right. Could have been a lot better. They basically rehashed the plot from the first… neh.

Not been to the movies since … ooooh, probably Superman Returns.

I know many didn't, but I liked it. It had flaws but, all-in-all, probably the best Supes movie since the first Christopher Reeve outing. And it didn't involve any turning the world backwards nonsense in order to reverse time.

I haven't been to the theater in… damn, a long time.

I think the last movie I watched in theater was… Pirates of the Carribean? The newest one, whatever it was called.

It was pretty good. Not incredibly uber-awesome or anything, but still pretty good.

OMG Radcliffe is only 18. He looks 30.

3:10 To Yuma
It's a pretty good Western. It's almost always good because Westerns IMO are always more about the hardcore story than the gun action. If you watch a Western for the action rather than for the story/atmosphere, then you're watching the wrong movie genre.

Russell Crowe has the most beautifully epic pistols I have ever ever seen. It makes you feel like you can't beat a man with pistols like that. I want working replicas of those pistols.

However, my Dad would be extremely PO'ed at the ending if he ever sees it. He believes in brotherhood more than anything else, and he'd tell me that the script writer is a pampered Hollywood ninny who doesn't know what the **** he's writing about.

The Brave One
It's ok. I have to say this is Death Wish for the Lifetime channel. Because the writing is pretty corny.

I saw “chalk” on saturday, and it was ok. what bothered me was that it was a flagrant rip-off of the directorial style and humor of “The Office” without any sense of innovation. And some of the acting seemed really fake, and the student-teacher dynamic seemed both cliche and unrealistic. However, some parts of it were funny, and the main teacher, Mr. Lowry, was pretty likeable and believable in his role. It's not really worth $9.50 to see, but if you like The Office you might find it entertaining. Or if you find stories about near-middle-aged men trying to find meaning in a rather empty, pathetic existence (actually one of my favorite themes.. ^.^!) you'll probably enjoy this film.

I also saw “But I'm A Cheerleader!” (on DVD though) and it was one of the best lesbian romance movies I've ever seen!!! (uhh… well it's the only one I've seen, other than “heavenly creatures”…) and the soundtrack is really awesome.

Shoot em up. If you love pure gun action done in a mor eclever manner then ever seen before, it's awesome. If you want cliche action movie dialouge that often pokes fun at action movie dialogue, it's awesome. If you wanna hear the freakin “Blow your load line” too often, it's awesome. IF you want clever characters and a good story, turn elsewhere quick.

Order of the Phoenix.

It was good overall. I didn't like how they skipped over some of the better parts of the book or some things that would've explained the house… but, it was one of the longer books.
Updates Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday's (depends).

IF you cut out all of the adverb on adverb action in a Rowling book every one would be like 100 pages or so.

I went to the movies to see Rob Zombies remake of Halloween. It was, in a word, epic. I loved it. It was the culmination of all Rob Zombie had been working on. I loved it. He had a lot of references to the original and took it off in his own direction. A great remake, but nowhere near as good as the remake the John Carpenter (the guy who made the original Halloween) did of The Thing. Now thats a good remake. Not that Halloween's remake wasn't great, I really loved this one, and highly recommend it. Halloween is good.

Before that I saw the Simpsons Movie. I thought it was okay, but it was a little too cliche' and used a crappy duex ex machina kind of ending. It was like a longer episode of the Simpsons, really. Not that great though.
