(AP) – In just six years, Wikipedia has mushroomed into one of the Web's most astonishing successes, with 1.7 million articles in English alone. The downside is that the free encyclopedia has its share of errors and juvenile vandalism, and sometimes the writing is incomprehensibly arcane.

Whoa…this kinda reminds me of the Drunk Duck civil war, actually. Having to provide your real name and all. Crazy.

Well, I wish him luck. I doubt it will ever reach the scale that wikipedia has, but if it's more accurate that's just as well too.

Yeah, not too catchy. It'll probably find some audience, though.

Interesting, but I think the name “Citizendium” will kill it. “Wikipedia” is much easier to remember and has the added advantage of already being insanely popular.

Aiight. One gripe I always had was there didn't seem to be accountability on wikipedia. The topics that are emotionally charged always seemed to be full of bias… though, even with accountability this trend probably won't be changed much.

Sometimes it was subtle… and sometimes they had neutrality flags… but still, it seemed difficult to actually create change in some of the bias.

citizendium. hmm… took me a minute to figure out its pronounciaction… wikipedia came quick… this one didn't.

sit-uh… ZEN-dee-um is how I think it's pronounced, yes/no?

Citizendium?

What a horrible name.

It sounds like a pill that old people take to guard against incontinence.

Other than that I think the idea has merit.
