i think adult swim (cartoon network at night) is really going downhill…
Tim and eric and xavier aren't funny, and im tired of old anime reruns. ugh
*end rant* I bring this up cause i figure drunkduckers prolly watch it.
theres nothing else on tv for nerds with extreme insomnia lol.

There's really only so much ‘random but basically the same basic thing’ formula you can run and hold interest. I mean, they still have their popular shows and some like Metalocalypse/Venture Brothers are pretty good, but for each of that caliber, you get maybe twice more in the production value of 12oz Mouse.

“You tell yourself to just
enjoy the process,” he added. “That whether you succeed or fail, win or
lose, it will be fine. You pretend to be Zen. You adopt detachment, and
ironic humor, while secretly praying for a miracle.”

The lineup doesn't really impress me. The only original programming I like is Robot Chicken, everything else blows. The only other things I watch are Futurama and Family Guy reruns.

I haven't had cable for several years, and I'm just fine without it. I watch DVDs when I'm extremely bored, but I usually draw, read books, play MMORPGs, or go out and drive around, and explore my surroundings. …Having no cable is quite refreshing.

Anyway, to get back on the subject, I watched Adult Swim when it was first on, back when Space Ghost Coast to Coast was their crown jewel, and Toonami aired Pokemon and Cowboy Bebop. I still remember going to the San Diego Comic-Con and they were trying to introduce Adult Swim to the masses before it first came out, and they were giving away T-shirts and showing the new shows to everyone. People were like, “What the heck is this crap?” …And I still think that now. I never liked it, and I'm surprised it's still on.

I never cared much for their comedies anyways. Too me they're mostly the same making references and are just stupid funny. It's okay in bits but I mean you can't survive on the same things alone. There's no experiments with animation. They just play it safe. Can't we have a smart original mature animation from the US.

I hate so many things about Adult Swim. I hate the smug sense of self-satisfaction they emit with their bumpers. I hate the "we're so off the radar“ music they play. I hate the ”so bad it's funny“ crap that they try to pull with most of their shows. It yields shows that are both unfunny and ugly.

You know what? Adult Swim is like so many webcomics out there. They think it'll be funny because the art's bad. And when they can't think of any good gags they pull the ”random" card and just try to do something viewers won't expect, and they hope it's funny.

The funniest thing about Adult Swim is that they call it Adult Swim. It's like a network created by children, for children who want to feel like adults.

Adult Swim passed on Korgoth of Barbaria, and The Venture Brothers won't return until June of next year.

I have no reason to watch them until june rolls around, and even then I'll tune in for The Venture Brothers alone.

Ah, okay, when VB comes back I'll be watching that too. That show and Robot Chicken are the best things CN has going for it.

It used to be cool… It gave us gold like Sealab 2021, Aquateen Hungaforce,Spaceghost Coast to Coast, Harvey Birdamn Attorney at Law…

Well, I only really, really loved the first two, but it was great for giving us those.

That, and they're don't have any Bleach at all right now. WTF is Shin-chan doing back? Might as well play Super Milk-chan. I sorta like Frisky Dingo, but they cut it out halfway through the 2nd season.

BTW, Toonami is now down to only 2 hours. It used to play from 7-11 PM on Sat., now its just 9-11, and one of those is reruns of DBZ.

Personally, I watch Adult Swim online every Friday, but basically out of the lineup now I only watch Metalocalypse, Boondocks, Robot Chicken, and Lucy: Daughter of the Devil. For a while all four episodes were showing a new episode every week, and all was good with the world. Lately, though, we're basically down to one of each show per week, two if we're lucky. I've never been into the anime they show, though… Excepting Cowboy Bebop, of course.

Ghost in the Shell was pretty good. It's nice and serious. I like what Hawk said most of the stuff on AS is not even adult. It's childish penis jokes.

Bah, I never really liked the comedy shows on Adult Swim. I can't stand Robot Chicken. Futurama, doesn't interest me. I pretty much just watch Family Guy.

They've been pretty awful for years. It took them two years to decide if Venture Brothers, one of the best shows on tv, was worth bringing back for a second season. Even the mighty monarch isn't that stupid.

Adult Swim passed on Korgoth of Barbaria

Why? Did they not watch the same cartoon that I did? It was non stop laughs with cartoon violence. How can anyone not love that? Maybe it was the fact that the barbarian had sex and killed people, ironically, it was too adult for adult swim.

Did they really pass on that show? That's awful. I thought it was great. …Maybe since it was created by Aaron Springer, the same guy who made Spongebob, it will be picked up by Nickelodeon. …For two days. It will be Invader ZIM all over again.

They have been crashing for years now, I havn't watched it in quite awhile because of the same reason. They really need to stop giving Tim and Eric their own shows, I mean who finds that crap funny? I mean besides Homoerotic crossdressing flash artists.

Are you insane good sir

Also, yeah, only really good shows on Adult Swim are Metalocalypse, Boondocks, Tim & Eric, Futurama, and Family Guy. Robot Chicken has gone a bit downhill, really. :/

I only watch the Boondocks… and that's semi regular.
Nothing else appeals to me.

Family Guy I peep on DVD.
And Robot Chicken as well.
Everything else… gives me gas.

adult swim just about as funny now than when it first started. It has always been the case that people would only watch a couple shows and then tune out for the rest. First it was futurama for me, then aquateen at its heyday. Then Home Movies.

These days I mostly watch it for:

Family guy: Finally finding its groove. I never liked it until the newer episodes came out.

Tim and Eric somewhat… at its best comes up with some really creative and surprising jokes, unfortunately there's also a lot of filler and weird, pointless grotesqueness for no reason. At it's best times it reminds me of Mr. Show. It's really inconsistent though.

Darkplace, not a adult swim original, but brilliant. For me the best of the line up hands down.

And for the record, Robot Chicken is seriously dumb. Bad one liners and predictable punchlines ahoy!

Oh yeah, they're running Gunslinger Girl now aren't they? I watched that show a really long time ago fansubbed, its a really great under appreciated anime.

All the Adult Swim material seemed to me to be targeted directly around the 8th-grader range. A lot of the time it would be 8th-grade humor executed well enough to amuse me, and I've watched my share of AHTF episodes. But there's only so long you can ride that vibe, and when you fall, you fall hard.

likes to cultivate that “I'm stupid and I know it so it's cool” frat boy image. Like the dumbasses who gather to watch another dumbass crush beer cans on his forehead and call it entertainment. It's “ironic” because they all know it's not that entertaining but they're watching it anyway.

Squids killing people! Singing hot dogs! Mice with laser beam eyes!

To quote Oscar Wilde: “Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.”

Well, whatever this is, it's several notches below the “sarcasm” Wilde was referring to. I'm not saying it doesn't work sometimes, or that I have an abhorrence of all things surreal and ironic. But this type of comedy is better served if balanced with solid writing, dialogue-based humor, and real story development.
