Yeah. When I was doing the awards the default date was the 16th on the 19th.

PQ me whatever password you want and I'll make sure the system changes it for you.

@ Amelius- yeah, the defaults are always about 2 days behind, but I'm pretty sure the site updates exactly on time. It's set to PST (-8GMT I think) and turns over at 12am PST, -that also changes with daylight savings.

@Niccea: Thanks!

@Ozone: I actually changed my mind, but thank you. In the future, is there no easier way to do it? Does it work with wowio's precious Chrome?

Does anyone have a copy of the original DD site? Why doesn't Wowio, who have proved totally incompetent here (and BTW, for the record, EVERYTHING I bitched about before the big change happened have been proven valid… there's no way around that, even though a lot of people here, including an admin, attacked me openly and brutally (using foul language) for mentioning them at the time), should just put the old site back online and go away. Is there anyone at ALL who doesn't dream of DD before the big redesign happened?
Anyway, here's a major bug, a huge, important bug. You can't filter IN adult comics on the front page. So, the top 10 is completely wrong… I know for a fact there are at least 3 adult comics in the top 10… even if you ONLY select Adult in the filter, no adult comics are shown. Is Wowio secretly charging money to let people have top 10 comics now? Otherwise, where are the adult comics? Where is the REAL Top 10?
I don't buy for a second that Wowio had big plans but just run out of money. NO company plans projects before having the money in place to carry them out. The site now is EXACTLY like Wowio wants it… it's exactly as they put it up in a faux ‘beta’ version… that was and IS the site. ALL, ALL, ALL!!!! your suggestions were ignored. ALL.
I came back here to see if things had changed… nothing has. The site is exactly like it was 6 months ago when I left.
How many thousands have left DD now? And how many thousands of us, just like me, checked back in, hoping things had changed so we could come back… and sadly finding nothing at all had changed.
No suggestions applied, no fixes, nothing… The Duck beta was, and was always meant to be, the final website. How many of you feel silly for thinking otherwise now? After you diligently reported your bugs, your site suggestions, your concerns… and they all went straight into the garbage can.
I've given up for good, now, removed DD from my favorites… I'll not return ever again. One top 100 artist gone? Yeah, but there are thousands just like me.
Goodbye DD

Here's a bug that annoys me: When writing a long description and you space to make gaps, it just gets mashed together like one long comment.

And the link system when writing a comment don't work anymore. Example, here's how it used to work Click this link and you could click it, but it doesn't work anymore, you can't even click on it. The only way (that I know) where you can make links, is in the page description.

One thing that tim mentioned was amusing, about the adult comic thing… He obviously has't noticed the top ten is static as stats don't work. At least I assume that is why anyway.
Anyone else having issues updating, with broken images and such?

I just added a page as a test and it worked ok for me.]

@Skool- I dunno, The Republicans might find him too extreme even for them. But you're right, his talent of paining himself as the prophetic underdog hero who always fights for the little guy is right on the money.
If there's a cause he'll rewrite history so he was at the centre of it, leading the way… so very, very, humble.

You know… I'm half tempted to ask Wowio if I can look at their codes, as unlikely it is that they'd respond to that request.

Not that I'm a genius with this sort of thing; I currently only know basic HTML and CSS, atm, but starting next semester, I'm taking an intensive course in advanced web design. Would be fun to see if I could apply anything I learn there to improving this site.
Those were my two cents.

there's brilliance in this idea.

Since Wowio is over-extended, perhaps they'd welcome a sort of internship, provided there's some ground rules (like you might not be able to come into the forums and report: “of COURSE the site doesn't work! there's a hamster wheel in the mix”)

Even if it's just (and I don't mean to minimize the work, just indicating that it's only one task out of many) getting a better text writer, or documenting everywhere the color scheme is referenced so it can be changed.

May be contact Lawrence? I think his email is somewhere in the GetSatisfact.

good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well… I'm not trying to get hired by them and as much as I would like to be paid for any work that I'd do, I know that they're in a tight financial situation so I wouldn't expect it.

Me throwing this idea out there is more of me being sick of the site being in this state and wanting to do something about it and as easy as it would be to go away and start somewhere else, I kinda don't want to. I've always liked the community here and would hate to see it go belly up.
At any rate, I have no idea how extensive the code is, how much work it needs and whether or not I could do anything about it. It's really something that I'd need to see first before I could make any decisions.
Those were my two cents.

Hi Bogo. Your profile says you were born in 1998 so that'd be the reason for the no adult stuff :)
If that age is wrong I can change it.

As much as I usually dislike agreeing with a wall-o-text rambler, Tim brought up one point. I remember when the server move was completed, one of the first questions I had was about our comic layouts and if we'd be able to get Project Wonderful ads back on our comics so that we can actually make money from our work. I remember feeling some relief when I was told that PW ads were a high priority and that I shouldn't worry.
But that was several months ago. I even tried contacting Wowio and asking them about it and was overall…shunned is the best word I can use.
I like the Duck, and I'd hate to leave after so much time here, but it's really hard to keep focus when the site doesn't give the cartoonists much room to grow.
I'm not blaming anyone here since I know it's not really anyone here's fault and there's not much that can be done right now. I'm just sort of venting.
But I really wish Wowio could just put a little funding into getting DD a couple steps closer to what we used to have.

I uderstand your concern.
Heh, even for the PW thing that wasn't something old timmy brought up, but was something I presonally fought for before the redesign was even ever underway!
And when screaming timmy was told that he re-imagined it as his own victory… That sort of thing is sorta why we don't like him very much.

It was always supposed to be made part of the new DD, but without funds for Wowio proper, NO development of any kind can start happening.
That means no fixing of the current bugs, and no adding in of projected features like PW. When funding returns, then deveoplement and bug fixing can restart.
Till then, the site works, but not as well as hoped, and no PW yet unfortunately.

Well sorry to make the inconvenience (specially on the date, have a happy new year in any case) but extra to the date issue that Niccea has mentioned I am missing the “you have X new mail(s)” when you receive a PQ (or many of them).
Also I know I haven't fully checked the topic but I would like to know if the issue has been reported yet and sadly I know it is more of an annoyance but not a real bug but the idea of requests showing but PQs not can be a bit of a confusion to a couple of us.
For all your attention thanks.

Yeah, the lack of PQ notifications is an extreme pain and slows communication down to nothing on the site, but it's something that's known and we all have it…

I'm not sure of the full story but apparently PQ notifications as well as the notifiers that show whether there's been a new post in the forums and who it's by (on the forum overview) all had to be shut off due to some massive slowing down of the servers or something…

Well I know that the idea that i had was not on the pop up nor the notifier landslide. What I had in mind was that like the Request a number to show when it is above 0 still the idea would be when the situation changes and DD gets the coding in gear.
Just that when any user logs in and sees the PQ near to a (0) to a (X) but then again I know that is a decent code piece to an extent.
Happy new year and hope things get better.

I had to quit my account because the duck kept saying i don't exist except for when i tried to register again. It wouldn't let me log in, it wouldn't let me reset my password, it wouldn't let me post in the forums to ask why this was happening, and it didn't give the option to reach the admins by other means.

That's terrible!
But always remember there're links on the front page of the site to our official DD Twitter and Facebook accounts:

If anyone has a problem they can contact us through there- just remember to tell us your DD account name and e-mail so we know it's you.

All 6 of my books were averaging at least 10 hits per day. Now my stats show zero hits on all books since the switch-over last July. I find this hard to believe. Was it DD's goal to make the site less functional and hence less desirable to long-time contributors, or was this just an unlucky circumstance? I think the whole relaunch is a flop and I for one will be seeking other more user-friendly sites to post my future web comics. Smooth move, DD– not!

My Stats have been dead since I joined in Oct. or Nov. last year. I've been liked 10 times but no one has looked like my page?! I'd be nice to have some idea of how much traffic I was getting.

Is the 5th spot on the Most Popular comics row a spot where you put “DD endorsed” community projects now?

Just curious since the awards were there for a long time and now all of a sudden the Secret Santa is there and the Awards just vanished.

Before that I remember reading you was testing it with Pinky TA (and not DLP >:{)

Yeah ^_^
Previously that was Persona FTW3, which had stopped updated ages and ages ago, AND Persona FTW4 was in the top ten as well anyway (plus I'd had some complainats about the fact), so that spot was the prefect candidate for shifting up once I'd worked out how to do it.

Basically I can put anything at all there, and community projects seem like an ideal choice.

The entire top 10 can be comepletely revised… but there's no ethical or fair way to do that that I can really think of. Even though the current placements are just down to plain dumb luck and are not “earned” or fair or valid in themesleves: they just happened to be the comics with the most unique hits average over 5 days when the list froze.
If the list was still working some of them would probably still be there (Charby etc.), and some wouldn't.

So there's only a fairly thin argument for keeping them the way they are… But because there's no easy replacement, we basically keep them that way for tradition's sake.

——-
I always intened to put the secret santa there after the awards, I was just waiting for SS pics to be put up. With the way that the list is horribly static and not representative anymore, it's nice to be able to have some change there.
