…when we celebrate the work it took to gain our independence by blowing shit up.

(Actually, in my state it's illegal to blow said shit up ourselves. Texas, at this time last year, admittedly, was awesome.)

Anyway, since we cannot blow things up ourselves and - more important than what might have been a once-revered day now delegated to sales, cookouts, and fireworks - today was my dad's birthday, this weekend we're in CT for a very short hols to celebrate.

P.S. I would say blowing shit up is a perfectly awesome manner of celebrating anything, as long as no one gets hurt. If I can outrun a bottle rocket, I would think anyone can.
