I'm just looking for some quick opinions here. recently on Deviant Art scrolling through whats hot or whats popular in a 24 hour period I've come across an increasing amount of photographs featuring in your face shots of female genitalia. I know there are filters I can use to weed this stuff out but is this something that should be considered art or some kind of erotica? There are definitely no full frontal males on Deviant Arts main pages, I'm just kind of confused. What do you guys think? I mean the Website is called Deviant Art and can incorporate anything outside the norm, I just don't care to see this kind of thing.

PIcs of vaginas are fine with me. What I find inappropriate are drawn artworks of dismemberment, torture, naked children, people covered in excrement… that sort of thing. Compared to that dicks and pussies are harmless. :)

I haven't seen the specific pics you're talking about, but genitalia (or flowers that look like genitalia) are a perfectly legitmate subject for art. It could also be interpreted as pornographic, depending on who's looking, which may have been the uploader-provocateur's purpose in uploading them.

Also, drawings of dismemberment, torture, naked children, and people covered in excrement are just fine with me. They're only pictures.

You're on the internet. Use filters when searching for things.

At least DeviantArt recognizes that their site will contain various adult material and instead of attempting to police and delete it (allowing for so much to slip past to eyes that don't want to see it), they keep it marked and sorted. Like I said, that's what filters are for.

pictures of naked children… hmmm. sure there are perfectly innocent examples and those i'd be fine with. sexualised naked children… different matter entirely. its a fine line I suppose. Like el cid says they are only pictures but so much depends on the picture itself.

The line between art, erotica and pornography is different for all kinds of people. Filter out what offends but it will always be there because people's preferences are different.
Watch Avenue Q on youtube and sing along with “The Internet is for Porn” and set the filter a little tighter because some people are really sick.

My tastes are pretty much the same as Ozone. I love naked people. Not into the whole torture/scat thing.
DeviantArt's standards are pretty easy to follow. Don't do anything gross and don't show sex, and you'll pretty much be okay.
But sometimes they try to enforce weird standards. I know a guy who drew erotic pictures of an adult Kim Possible, and he got his account (momentarily) banned for drawing erotic pictures of a character that was once depicted as a teenagerr. *shrug*
So, sometimes they pull weird rules out of their hat.
