the news makes me mad…I wish I could do bigger things.. but every week I worry the dry bed I have will be gone next week.. that I will never find a place for cat and I went and looked at a place.. …but I also worry that the job I have will end.. and I will be stuck with a rental contract and no way to pay it.. but maybe I can make the world suck just a little less for someone.. if only for a little bit..
Very true. Do what you can. Be positive to people. Pass out chirrs.. (:) Gift bits to people. (I've given away over 1000 of those little flashlights, for example. Riley has a batch.) Smile. (One of my many failings. I've got a built-in Grinchface...) Little USB battery banks can be useful to someone that doesn't have consistent power available. Just useful little bits..
Hang in there, Riley. More bits being collected to send your way, some of which you can send on even more... God bless, stay safe! Stubat

The news should make everyone made, the folks in charge of making sure everyone's doing OK are failing miserably. :/ Glad to see that the folks on the edge are helping to pick up the slack. I've read that the poor and the lower middle class donate more to charity than the rich because they know what it's like to be on the brink of the abyss, they'll make a genuine sacrifice that hurts.
Those of us who are middle-class often don't realize how important a small cheap thing can be to someone less fortunate. I'd like to make a donation to a local charity shop, but I had a bad experience the last time I went: all the shelves were full of total garbage, and after I dropped off my new board games and things, I suspected that the folks in the back were planning to sell it all on eBay instead of to the people who need it. J Riley, which of these charity shops would you recommend as the best: St. Vincent de Paul, Salvation Army, or Goodwill?
I can give a doller most any where but Goodwill will put a lamp to good use.. drs with out borders can use a buck.. but can't use a lampshade..so each thing where it will do the most good
I'd say Goodwill they are picky about what goes on the shelves. Stuff that's dirty or ragged gets sold for rags.. and 89cents of each doller spent goes back into local community programs. And I tend to be able to visual see what Goodwill is doing..such as the work program for the disabled..
