The 2014 Spring Comic Convention season is here and in full swing. I have read about virtual conventions for webcomics, but nothing beats the thrill of traveling to a con, spending money on an entrance ticket, waiting in long lines next to strangers in cosplay, and taking photos with famous celebrities. There are just some real world experiences that can not be emulated on the Internet.

Here are a few comic conventions happening within the next two months:

USA



WONDERCON 2014
Dates: April 18th -April 20th
Admission: $8-$25/single day

WonderCon is an annual comic book, science fiction, and motion picture convention, held in Anaheim, CA.

INDY POPCON 2014
Dates: May 30th - June 1st
Admission: $20-$25/single day || $45/3-day || $100/VIP

Indy PopCon is coming to Indianapolis and bringing you over 200,000 square feet of comics, cosplay, video gaming, internet culture, entertainment, and more!

CANADA



OTTAWA COMICCON 2014
Dates: May 9th - May 11th
Admission: $5-$35/single day || $55-$75/3-day

The Ottawa Comiccon is a fan convention with focus on comics, sci-fi, horror, anime and games. It is a spin off of the Montreal Comiccon.It was launched in 2012. The event features comic books, toys, games, science-fiction, horror, anime, non-sport cards and collectibles. It is held at the EY Centre convention center in Ottawa, taking place in May and lasting 3 days. The organizers of the Ottawa Comiccon primarily come from the Montreal Comiccon organization.

TORONTO COMIC ARTS FESTIVAL
Dates: May 10th - May 11th
Admission: Free

TCAF is The Toronto Comic Arts Festival. It is a week long celebration of comics and graphic novels and their creators, which culminates in a two-day exhibition and vendor fair featuring hundreds of comics creators from around the world. Other Festival events include readings, interviews, panels, workshops, gallery shows, art installations, and much more. Since 2009, TCAF has been held at Toronto Reference Library in Toronto, Canada, and presented by Toronto Public Library.

The Toronto Comic Arts Festival 2014 will take place Saturday, May 10th, 9am-5pm, and Sunday May 11th, 11am-5pm, at Toronto Reference Library, 789 Yonge Street.

Remember to mark on your calendars that FREE Comic Book Day is May 3rd! I went to a local comic book shop last year and I walked out with six free comics, so it is a real steal.
