I have this travel journal that I carry around with me for inspiration and one of the suggested activities it to take time to stare out the window, whether in an airplane, bus, or subway car. I realised that too much of my day is spent staring at the gorilla glass screen of my tablet and not enough looking out the window daydreaming.
One week ago I was lucky enough to go on a spontaneous trip to Niagara Falls. I looked out the window and the massive ice mounds had not melted along the waterfall. The longest six-month Winter was just about to retire and Spring was ready to take over. I walked up to the railing and snapped a picture of the Falls.
It is so important to take time to go outside and enjoy nature, especially after those long afternoons hunched over a computer monitor while working on a webcomic. Sometimes there is a disconnect between the time spent in the virtual world versus the world outside, which can be easily ignored.
So here's a drawing exercise for this week: Go outside. Pay attention to the environment around you, whether you live in the wilderness or a bustling urban city and sketch it out.
Typical Strange by Banes celebrated its 3rd Year Anniversary last week on April 24th! Yay! Way to go Banes.
Powell and Derry Product by awsome owl 98, which had ended, is back in session and updating with brand new comics in Photoshop. It is about to reach its 350th page milestone real soon.
