bittertea, our very own Drunk Duck veteran and featured comic creator responsible for the beautiful linework in Scorch, has a kickstarter for a new graphic novel project in the works called Squarriors.

What is Squarriors?

Squarriors is the epic saga of warring animals in a post-human world. Specifically a small tribe known as the Tin Kin, and their struggles building a life in the new world while confronting the hostile neighboring Maw tribe. No it's not Redwall, no it's not Mouse Guard. Think Road Warrior meets Secret of NIHM & Watership Down.

This comic is from the artistic genius of Team Ash–Ashley (aka bittertea) is the artist and her co-creator Ash (a mad genius) is the writer. They are currently running a kickstarter campaign to help with the first issue. Almost all their work is a labor of love and this one needs as much support as it can get! The stretch goals from their kickstarter will help lead into Issue Two, which is already in the works. Issue One: Teeth & Nails comes out in December. Most recently Team Ash had the opportunity to talk with Peter Mohrbacher about Squarriors on his show “One Fantastic Campaign” that you can see here:

2014 DRUNK DUCK AWARDS

This is a reminder for all judges that you need to report to the Judge's Forum to complete your top pick for the awards vote. The selection process has already started and you will get to see your co-judge for each category you have been selected to judge.

usedbooks of the amazing mystery comic, Used Books had this to say about the Drunk Duck Awards:

Three things I like about participating in judging the DrunkDuck Awards:

1. I get to read more DD comics, some I've never seen before, all of them noteworthy.

2. I get to chat with some great DDers that I otherwise rarely interact with one-on-one.

3. While analyzing other comics, I gain an introspection into how I can improve upon my own work. It's like free art lessons that somehow originate from the back of my own brain. (And are supplemented by discussion with other DDers.)

Btw, I think Niccea could still use volunteers.

MILESTONE

Congratulations to Anubis for reaching the 800th published page milestone for Blood Bound on TheDuck! In the words of Anubis himself, “Wholy Carp! How the heck did that happen!” That is a substantial archive and keep up the good work and yay for updating.
