Irrevenant is looking for volunteers for the next Comic Jam for We Are The Duck!

From irrevenant:
“A comic jam is a process where artists collaborate on creating a single comic. There is no script, and the content of the comics is improvised based solely on what happened in the previous pages. One artist creates the first page, then another artist creates the second, and a third does the next, and so on.”

The comic will be 12 pages long, and there are still six pages left for the taking!

TOP TEN REBOOTED

As you may or may not know, I've been doing the Top Ten manually for some time - periodically checking recently updated comics and sorting them by number of likes. This system was time-consuming and clunky at best, and I think I'm happier than anyone else on DD to announce that the Top Ten will once again be updated automatically!

The Top Ten is now ranked by views. There are advantages and disadvantages to this. It's definitely an improvement, because it's a lot more dynamic and accurate than “likes” tend to be. But the downside is that comics with a larger archive have a big advantage. At the moment we don't have a counter for unique hits, but we'll look at tweaking the Top Ten going forward. The “comics” tab is also now sorted by views rather than likes, so you can look through there to find your own comic's ranking.

Wow, thanks for the plug! O_o Note that We are the Duck is really Genejoke's baby - I'm just managing the jam this time around. I both agree and disagree with Dragonaur - I think it would be useful to both have an all-time top ten and a most-popular-lately top ten.

Too bad you couldn't have something like a top comics for the last week, based on views or something. These static top ten pages change so rarely, I wouldn't even waste front page space on 'em. Personally, I get the most use out of "Quail's Random." ^_^; And because I had to... 99 (I think). I'm rather surprised.

Tales of SIG is at 285? Not bad for a comic on hiatus. Someone somewhere is going through the archive. But why do I have the feeling that doing new pages would only serve to lessen the page views?

YOUR CHOICE... is #152! I should make a celebration page! Sadly, only Living In Chrome and #Pageant were the only ones of mine that made it in the first 50 sections. The rest might be in the down in the depths graveyards. I was hoping for Stiletto to have been a Veteran Top and it seems like The Princess January Show has a LOT of promotion to do...

@kim- the ranking will be based on a 4 day average of unique hits when it's fixed. The current method is only the first try. :)

This is cool though, especially from a "not having to manually update it" point of view! I also have a frame of reference, one day I will be able to move my comic up from wherever the hell it is on the list haha!

Yeah, if possible, maybe it should just be Views over, say, the last month! That way the top ten will be more like a 'trending' list. Comics that haven't had a new page in a year probably shouldn't be in the Top Ten!! And how are you guys finding out you're placement in the total views (15th and 295th)?

Actually... there are 31408 comics in total. But some of them have only one page and some are deleted. That's a "secret" admin number :D
