Back to the Legal stuff, I know what Cora COULD do and why it might be a good thing the public hasnt figured out what Lan is yet and how it might be better if that was saved for court. the prosecution will base the most of their case on how Lan Loki Mclong Fiveclaw's actions were premeditated, and how he was fully aware of his actions. All Cora would have to state is "So your convinced my client qualifies as sapient. Interesting seeing as he is only half human and would like to be recognized as a member of his father's race however his father's people still aren't recognized as sapient at all, infact just to be educated he and his foster family had to hide what he really is, just to walk in here he was forced to use a false form, and he had every right to do such for never in his life has my client been free from fear with your permission your honor I would like my client to walk up here and shift into his true form." intrigued by this statement the judge would likely say "granted"

I had to emphasize the word "riding" in relation to the "demon horse" on the previous comment. Seriously though i wonder how many zombies and golems Lan could make if he didn't take a short cut... that said golems would be a good us for that dark energy... and seriously why doesn't the elder see how effective a pooka can be with a blade using rouge methods I mean seriously neither Plug nor Rixxi could overlook the advantage of fitting in the smaller ventilation shafts and being able to controllably shift into something of a more formidable size right before killing their target by any means of their choice from behind

I just reallised something, somebody's probably following Lans (rather broken up) paper trail they'd start from his recent public records and work back finding out about all his hobbies (pranks to panties) and realizing those aren't the actions of a destruction bent individual. then they'll notice it stops so they will go earlier and look for orphans that would be about his age named Lan with unusual abilities following that trail (if they aren't cut off) will lead them to the name Deathsong... at this point they would try finding information about similarly powerful necromancers that died or went missing a little before the time Lan was brought to the orphanage, they will find one presumed single and dead Sassafras Hades who was often seen 'riding' a "demon horse" however following that path (as you cant exactly say someone who looks pure human is part demon horse to your publisher would find there are no demon horses and will likely be stumped there until they look at whom he attaks

OrlahEhontas of course they had to start but that doesnt mean they were "made up". It started when one Fiveclaw (according to Sky it may be Blacky Fiveclaw) learned that fun can come from things like pranks and other forms of deliberate rule-braking and do to nostalgic feelings on the subject never stretched any importance on not getting in trouble to their kids noting that in at least one parent even when its attempted to be hidden it repeats

True, mhalpern, but those traditions had to start somehow or somewhen. Traditions and taboos both have to start at some point. Without a start, they will never become a tradition or taboo. Humanity didn't decide to quit eating "long pig" in the last century. It's been one of our taboos for at least a couple of millenia. Right along with "All Hallow's E'en".
