So I assume their new tweak to this is requiring certificate backdoors for SSL, right? Man, people setting themselves up for pwnage. If I got ahold of their private key, and tricked employees into viewing my site as if it was say, their banking or VPN, then I'd pretty much own them (in the virtual mindrape sort of sense). The network security is about defending from crackers and from viruses. Filtering word "smack" (or swear words) have nothing to do with network security and is completely stupid unless we are talking about network of orphanage or basic school.

Damn who's in charge of network security? There's a point where you should ditch that system last year, cause the most important thing is that it remains usable or you're loosing money on the entire network as no one will use it, then close behind is security, they over lap a bit in some instances but for the most part you have to be able to use the system or you waste money on it.

our system blocks our offices own web page. due to links to the safty videos we have to watch. even a comment posted on a site can result in the page being blocked. use to be able to use crome to jump over it.. now most of us work on our personal computers cus the office system is so useless

There are two types of network security that are commonly used, network firewall (client firewalls as well but not discussing client) and network web filtering, thats there to put less strain on the firewall, if either aren't up to date, for instance the filter being presearch (seriously that should have been replaced a few years ago for the inherent security holes in those systems if not the inconvenience and in some environments the need for manual security exceptions) or the firewall's virus definitions being outdated, puts the system at risk. Newer web filters use the same concept that things like spotify, Pandora and the youtube suggestions use for figuring out what you want in a but in a web filtering form, much more secure and very little is wrongfully blocked.

This is gonna bug me a bit so i will say it, you forgot the s in president.. So your workplace has a keyword presearch blocker, several years ago that would have been great (back when that was most of what was available and worked reliably), but seriously now that most use review sites and databases to accurately categorize the web and generate appropriate filters, not only is it more of an inconvenience than necessary but offers little actual network connection (not that they provided much in the first place) as all that someone would need to do to bypass that style filtering is avoid using those key words in the url and site description which countless people have done. In other words they seriously need to update the network security at your workplace to a much less archaic standard.
