I take it while most are his progeny, he (and his father included) actually only raised a few lines to have even the slightest expectation of having recognized power because of it, Zagerious (spelled wrong), James (As he wasn't the original) and Lan. The rest would be unofficial progeny, the shear number mean that even if the one he chooses as heir is killed for the power, he could pick someone else and still deny the title to the power hungry. that and he doesn't restrict himself to one mate. That said I don't think the number of progeny he has compares to to the number that Zeus has in the same amount of time, it is estimated he would have over 3000 children based on classical mythology.
