Episode 183 - Work Life balance

Aug 15, 2014

This Quackcast topic was inspired by a newspost by Kawaiidaigakusei who described a short autobiographical account of her own experiences managing the difficult work/life balance of doing webcomics online and at the same time having a normal life otherwise. How do you balance those? What do you sacrifice to keep a comic going? Is it worth it? In this Quackcast we discuss those aspects, as well as some saucy banter to begin with...

@Gunwallace Thank you so much for creating the musical theme for Dinnersaurus! I greatly appreciate your dedication, it is truly an honor! I'm so flattered at how the comic inspires the drama you've portrayed in your composition :) Thank you for your hard work! @quackcast @kawaiidaigakusei I'm introverted myself. I understand where kawaiidaigakusei is coming from. When I'm around too many people for too long I go crazy. I also would agree that people should seriously make time for their comics, because comics are forever. Every page has re-read value, not just with the same reader but with new readers. You can shower every day, clean your house, play video games, but that work doesn't get immortalized in the same way comics do. I notice that when I work more on comics I play like no video games for the week, and I consider myself a video game addict (often anyway). Thank you so much for sharing, and thank you for the Dinnersaurus music and shoutout!

'Drawing music' is an interesting topic touched on here. What do people listen to/watch when drawing? I often draw to Dodger baseball, with the soothing voice of Vin Scully lulling me into a near coma state.
