SS5 02 Back Home Again
skyangel on June 13, 2013
Hi guys, lovely to see you all again and such wonderful enthusiasm too, it was lovely. Together with the really lovely review from WCBN it was quite some welcome home party :)
I've not done a preview poster for this chapter as I hadn't got anything sorted artwise, but maybe in a way it'll be nice to just unroll the story as it goes and not confuse you with any pre-concieved ideas. I've managed to remain focused on a single storyline centered mainly around Sarah this time rather than lots of sideline stories about the other characters so it should be easier to follow although naturally we do get to keep up with Leo, Gerry and Nikki too. But yeah this feels like a really nice way to wrap up the whole story as it's mostly Sarah now who needs to sort her life out while everyone around here is finally settling nicely into their own.
SS is always such a personal thing to me and it's kinda like a notebook diary at the same time so it's fun to put little personal bits in where I can. This is actually the town I was born in and have lived in all my life. Becky's friend thought I lived in Holland cos of the Windmill! lol sofor anyone else thinking that, we do have windmills too!! we have this really weird little round Dutch cottage in town too which is supposed to be one of the oldest buildings so maybe some Dutch people lived there while they made flour up at the mill.
Next week: We get to meet Stacey's little girl Callie and find out what's happening to her plus a hint of curiousity about what happened to her past abuser Richard!
Anyways, have a lovely weekend all! :)

Hmmm...yeah, I could never have moved back in with my oldies. Maybe just to sleep, if desperate ! B-) Back then (70s) once out, you'd burnt your bridges ! B-) Our own kids moved out,back,out...in their own homes now.

Welcome back Sarah! What a nice post-exam, welcome-home present :) Seems you have a new colour artist, they're doing a great job, the pages look all fresh and great but still SS. I hope you've had a lovely break, thank you for coming back to us :)

DV: Becky was asking me about that too! lol. The street is a very quiet little one and off road parking is pretty limited anyway and therefore people do tend to park outside their own houses regardless of whichever direction they have come from just out of respect for other owners. But yeah, I guess it must seem confusing. :)

Hi Kim, hehe One thing I notice about most artists is that the first couple of pages really show their enthusiasm! Even though I had the story down it still felt I needed some sort of intro to warm things up again and remind readers of some of the important points of Sarah's current situation. The pic of Janey in the cracked photo frame seemed to sum her feelings up quite nicely. I I imagined Sarah being so mad that she might throw it in the bin and then fish it out an hour later and patch it up. :)

To quote a local iconic singer: "Welcome Home!". So glad decided to check The Duck today :D Did Sarah park on the wrong side of the street? O_o

Such a sweet town, and the windmill just adds to the charm! I just loved coloring this page! Sky's artwork is so beautifully detailed... the more you look the more you see!

Nicely drawn scenery.

Interesting info-bytes about your hometown. It seems like an absolutely beautiful place. The art has always been great but it certainly seems to 'kick', 'pop', whatever... now! From the previous page I noted the torn-up-and-put-back-together photo of Janey. Nice touch. So, welcome back again :)
