SS5 112 Meeting Lucy's Parents

I was a bit sneaky here. I originally drew most of the top panel as last weeks final one but because it was too big to fit in the normal frame size I decided to just use a portion of it on last weeks page and then add a bit more detail to make it full width on this weeks. ;)
I do find peoples perception of money interesting. There is a tendency to feel that money is the answer to everything and yet when I see people who have too much of it like the Osbournes and the Kardashians I see people who are pretty much still living normal lives and no happier or sadder for it than anyone else I know. I'd personally rather have a mini or a beetle than a rolls any day. I pretty much spent most of my teenage years in my room too as that was ‘my space’ and what I loved was having everything within reaching distance apart from the kettle! I even used to think that I'd probably be happy living in a prison cell as long as I had tea and biscuits and a drawing pad! lol I'd want internet too now though or else it really would feel like a punishment!
Next week: The mystery surrounding Lucy deepens as she takes Sarah on a guided tour around the house. ;)

Bear and Kim: That's truly scary stuff. I've heard about this sort of thing being done before to try to cure stuff like schizophrenia or violent behaviour and even that seems extreme so it's horrifying to think such procedures have been used so liberally.

Poor Lucy...er, rather... rich Lucy. We try hard not to embarrass our kids when they bring somebody home to meet us, yet somehow we manage to pull it off. You've captured that special awkwardness perfectly.

Dear Sky, Yeah BearinOz know about that! Loved drinking that Canadian Club and Seagrams here in the States proabition era of course. Sen. Bobby Kennedy had a hard time going after Jimmy Hoffa because of that. I support the Kennedys "sins of the father bestowed upon the children?" Don't be sorry Bear I am pissed my self. Haha maybe if you were doing a gothic tale of drama and tragedy...! I doubt it happened THAT much in real life... but in media some families did it to 'troublesome' kids... Happened in Anne Rice's 'The Witching Hour!' Oh, and Lobotomies...! Kids got those for all kinds of dumb reasons!! Makes for good tragic melodrama! :D

Yeah, still... I'd love to test the theory that being a millionaire changes people ;) I know we've all got it out that the uber-rich always behave in eccentric ways, but like you I think that's a trope! Still, this page... First, I'm loving the bantery personality of Lucy's parents, but I'm getting this feel of Lucy being the trope of the classic Rich Kid with major head issues, that she's a bit wild sometimes and other times and maybe sits around depressed, maybe tried suicide, and that she's been undergoing some sort of therapy (which, for the rich back in the day, would be stuff like shock therapy :D) However it turns out, though, I'm loving the peeling back of the layers!!!

Not sure what 's worse - the "old money" descendants of the Norman robber-barons, or the "new money" of the rockstar (Osbournes)or famous-for-fuck-alls (Kardashians), who have NO class at all. I do quite like the Richard Bransons and wotsisface (Scottish bloke off Dragon's Den) types. Another teasing, see-more-later page. Oh well. I'm a sucker for a Palladian window and a Faux Tudor fireplace, btw B-) ...things are back to normal, with me first on again, at my bedtime B-)
