Phantom: You sound like you've had plenty of practice! As a teenager I once tried to pick our back door lock with a hairpin but failed miserably. I wigggled it about so much that in the end it snapped and half of it ended up inside the lock. Luckily it didn't jam it at least!

Phantomduck: and some locks shouldn't even be called 'locks'; in our old house, mum had a lock put on her door (not sure why), and it could be opened using a simple eating knife inserted into the keyhole (not sure if ever told mum that, but left the knife hidden on the picture rail above her door)

Hmmm...locks eh? An old movie called " A Summer Place " sprang to mind, for some reason. I think because she reminded me of the bitch mother in that, who gets her daughter "checked out" by their g.p., after she gets trapped on an island overnight with a boy !
