I suppose I should really have had a page where Sarah confesses and the two girls fight it out on top of the tower before falling off the parapet and plunging together into the river below but.. this isn't really that kind of comic, so I went for quiet sulking intead. ;)
Next week: Sarah decides to take a break from all her problems at Carlingford to catch up with Nikki. Can Nikki cheer her up? We shall see!
We'll also be celebrating our 10 year anniversary so over the next few weeks I'll be posting a few extra goodies alongside the updates.

Its amazing its been so long, 10 years and still going strong. Poor Sarah i feel bad for her, feeling like the second girl is never a good thing.

DV: It's very weird, because what started out as a hobby and a bit of fun 10 years ago has often seemd like a day job in recent years! I've always felt very enthusiastic about doing it most of the time but it's really thanks to you guys supporting us that we got this far and felt a desire to keep the quality as high as we can manage. :)

Just because a suppressed memory of trauma is "recovered" doesn't mean that it is "behind" one; far from it. It can take a long time, years perhaps, to "work through" it. Sarah is learning something here we hope: that although she seemed to be able to let go of Janey pretty quickly without many regrets, not everyone is built like that. Also, I think the facial expressions in panel 2 capture the conversation really well. Lovely, moody page.

Fred: Absolutely and as I mentioned to 'Save the Rejects' and 'Infected Blood' below it felt kind of apt to put Sarah in the same position as Janey's new girlfriend after the trouble she caused up there even though she never intended to cause any harm. And I've always felt Sarah's anger at Janey probably helped her to get over her more easily wheras Janey has the guilt of it hanging over her for much longer.

SS was described as a 'soap' comic at some point around chapter two, and I felt that was an apt description because this was always 'slice of life' and in the early days of internet I think a lot of us in the LGBT community were excited about connecting through our own experiences and that often meant dramatic moments both good and bad. But this webcomic has moved on so much since then that extreme displays of emotion now, feel like they should only be used in the most dramatic moments for best effect. :)

Well... On one hand, I'm relieved that Lucy didn't do anything rash and dangerous after Sarah's reveal, but it's also disheartening that Sarah is realizing how hard it is to competed with a lost 'love'. We tend to idealize the ones we lose via tragedy or sudden breakup and disappearance... You really know how to grip how life really is, Sky... And of course the art... That first panel...!! Holy crapola!!

Kim: I've always been a pretty quiet person especially up to the point of starting this comic, always preferring others to do the talking if they were willing and I think this kind of introvercy has made me a better listener and observer of life. When I started writing this comic I did find my own thoughts and feelings flooding out in a way that suddenly felt okay to do so because I could let my character take the blame for it! And of course all these little bottled up observations tend to come out as well. I can never judge my own writing though so it's always been fascinating to me to see how my unspoken thoughts and observations on what it is to be human cause a reaction on paper. :)

Dear Sky, My how the years go by so quickly! And how you have worked so hard on SS through those years. Thanks so much, I enjoyed Sarah and all her friends as if they were my real friends. Tommym: That would have made a lovely page! haha We have put a lot into the comic over the years but for me the biggest gain from it has not only been the wonderful reaction we've had for so long but also how much the constant practice has improved my art.

Nice melding of the two story arcs. Sarah is wondering if she can stay. I feel that she's going to try (this is Sarah after all) but I don't think she can help, or that Lucy actually wants help. At the moment she's too wrapped up in it to escape. Extra goodies sounds like a treat. More ghostly happenings? An update from Janie? Nikkie has found happiness? Claire (the manipulative bitch) has been sent to Holloway? There could be some great drama there.
