SS6 50 Cornered
skyangel on Oct. 7, 2017
Hi guys,
I'd like to take a few moments to thank you all for your continued support over the last couple of years. It's been a very long read for those of you who came in more recently and found the time to trawl through the archive, but as always it is you readers and your comments that have been the life blood of this comic for over ten years, inspiring me to to try and turn out good art and fun pages as well as to JUST KEEP GOING!!!
This last chapter has been a very long tale of mystery and unsolved riddles too for almost two years now and I know it must be very frustrating at times to have to wait so long for those explanations but we are finally here and next week your patience will be rewarded as Ron begins to tell us all, the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about Laura. No more red-herrings or new questions, just the plain but maybe not so simple, unvarnished truth.
And of course this whole business with Lenore and the curse of Carlingford will naturally unfold as we go. ;)
Have a nice week :)

I wonder, will you continue making comics after this is finished? REALLY hope so, though I get if you need a break haha. You're so super dedicated, almost never miss an update and always quality pages. And I'm curious where this is going- he's obviously not a EVIL person. A bit creepy, yes, but he seem to have some struggles. Unless he turns evil while telling the story, like ''...AND THEN I KILLED HER, AND NOW I WILL KILL YOU TOO''-something like that haha, i mean there's those type of villains too.

Would Ron be 'played' by Ray Winston ? B-) ...from my old A.D.&d. days, I'd say Ron has Int 9; Wis 15. NO idea about Dexterity or Constitution B-)
skyangel at 4:30AM, Oct. 10, 2017
Bear: Haha It's a distinct possibility although those ratings might be too generous for my character! :)
DarkVisor at 4:30PM, Oct. 7, 2017
Wow, whiplash! But in a good way (if getting whiplash is ever good), Ronnie isn't a bad man, he's just had to do bad things, but we will have to wait for his explanations
DarkVisor at 8:24AM, Oct. 10, 2017
Have seen too often how making early judgements without getting the _full_ story usually ends stupidly: get the full story and _then_ pass judgement (not saying won't still take a bar full of crows to Ronnie's kneecaps, but would prefer knowing the full story first)
skyangel at 4:28AM, Oct. 8, 2017
DV: You'd make a good judge! :) Throughout the chapter Ron has mostly shown himself to be a very affable and generous guy but with a rather overbearing and bossy nature, and a quick temper too. In his defence Ron is not that bright, getting where he has done by being streetwise more than intelligent so he's a bit of a ham when it comes to solving his personal problems. So with that in mind, I think you'll find his version pretty interesting :)

Wow, I never realized how bleak the setting is of Carlingford. Ominous, but so often in this epic, as in real life, people are quite complex: mixes of good and bad, smart and stupid, childish and grownup. So I reserve judgement on Ron. BTW, there is no need to apologize for the pace of the narrative here. In order to be engaging, the tale needs to be fully told, characters fleshed out, motivations explained, etc. That's storytelling. I don't read the first chapter of a novel to get the problem then jump to the end to see how it's resolved, skipping the middle.

Fred: As I've said to Tommym, I really should have done a panel like this sooner.I may well go back when the books complete and add an additional page to set the scene better in the future. I have to admit that Ron's character is one of my faves. It's been pointed out before that I have a bit of a negative attitude towards all my male charcters so my history suggests Ron's going to be an asshole! lol But as I've described to DV above, it's Rons lack of ability to analyse and make better decisons that makes him both a vulnerable and dangerous character as we shall witness in the coming pages.
BearinOz at 4:51PM, Oct. 7, 2017
....and none of us wants it to end, really, so longer the better, in a way.
DarkVisor at 4:35PM, Oct. 7, 2017
Glad to _someone_ is willing to wait and find out his reasons _before_ condemning him
moizmad at 2:20PM, Oct. 7, 2017
This Ron guy is looking a bit like that joker in Las Vegas, who wasn't a bad guy either until....
skyangel at 4:17AM, Oct. 8, 2017
Mo: That's a disturbing thought for sure. I'll be able to comment on Ron's behaviour when he reveals what he's done. :)
tommym at 1:12PM, Oct. 7, 2017
Dear Sky, You have made Carlingford look like a farm house in the middle of nowhere. Sarah is so isolated. And yes he is a very bad man who will give Sarah his side, and his side only. of the story. tommym
skyangel at 4:14AM, Oct. 8, 2017
Tommym: It is a very isolated property. In previous panels you can see up and down the road but being as it was always like this in my head I assumed everyone reading would see it too! I should have done this sooner.
KimLuster at 12:02PM, Oct. 7, 2017
This moment has been building for a while, and I'm eager to hear what he has to say... But... I've always been of the feeling that people who insist they're 'not a bad man' often are, very much, a bad man. Love the scenery, and our harbinger raven again!!
DarkVisor at 8:28AM, Oct. 10, 2017
He probably _feels_ guilty, for whatever part he played in separating his daughters (they are both his, aren't they?) but that still doesn't, alone, make him an _actual_ bad guy
skyangel at 3:57AM, Oct. 8, 2017
Kim: It is possible he's telling the truth but as you say, people who repeat themselves sound very guilty indeed which probably means they want to convince themselves just as much as they want to convince others.
Infected Blood at 6:55AM, Oct. 7, 2017
Ok, now we know he's a very bad man!
skyangel at 3:51AM, Oct. 8, 2017
IB: Haha I guess it is just possible that he is telling the truth! ;)
Emevsa at 6:42AM, Oct. 7, 2017
"I'm not a bad man," ... yup that sounds like a bit of denial there.
skyangel at 3:50AM, Oct. 8, 2017
Emi: I think he's riddled with guilt! ;)
SaveTheRejects at 5:17AM, Oct. 7, 2017
You know you're off to a great start when you begin with saying "I'm not a bad man", not once, but twice.
skyangel at 3:47AM, Oct. 8, 2017
STR: Haha Yea, when someone starts repeating a statement like that your first thought always tends to be 'This guy sounds guilty as hell!'
BearinOz at 4:15AM, Oct. 7, 2017
"I'm not a bad man" A.Hitler/J.Stalin/P.Pot/D.Trump B-) ...and 'Quoth' is keeping an eye on it all, it seems at the end there .
DarkVisor at 8:30AM, Oct. 10, 2017
May be, but you put Trump in that list when he hasn't _done_ anything, other than propose to strengthen a wall that previous presidents had had built
