SS6 67 Ron's Confession 5
skyangel on Feb. 17, 2018
Ron's clearly losing sight of the big picture and becoming fixated on getting his own way, as well as letting his feelings towards Laura's mother cloud the situation.
Becky raised the question of timeline during our conversation last night which was a very good point because clearly Sarah is floating around somewhere at this point. I always follow a timeline to make sure that events fall in a logical and realistic pattern, so out of interest
Sarah would still be with Janey at this point and probably just started her first job at the Smallwoods dept store. And although they will all eventually come to meet the elderly piano teacher May (who lived at the same flats as S and J) that's still a few years in the distance.
Bonus points if you recognised the two oddball girls here that Sarah dated after she split up with Janey, clearly together at this point even though Sarah dates them seperately later on. No doubt they freaked each other out as much as they did Sarah! ;)
Next Week: No more hesitation or cold feet for Ron as he finally delivers Laura into the hands of his hired thugs and she gets to see what they have in store for her!
Have a nice week :)

Can actually understand a bit of Ronnie's motivations here, that last bit? About Laura wanting to 'set things right for her own peace of mind, regardless of the cost'? Yeah, that is selfishness
BearinOz at 10:31PM, Feb. 22, 2018
Yeah, "Ron"s are not uncommon, really, I suspect most know or have known the odd one. They just get caught up in circumstances and sometimes it goes 'tits up' .

DV: Ron has been quite a challenging character to write because I never intended him to be a totally bad guy, but someone who found himself in a mess that he was incapable of handling that led to him committing one very dark deed. To me his wife Helen is much nastier because she's been making trouble ever since Laura arrived and seems to have had very little feelings for the girl, she's also used the mothers betrayal to stimulate Ron's anger. And as you say, even Laura herself has now unwittingly provided a final provocation to make sure Ron goes over the edge.

So I found the "mystery couple", after a bit of searching. The two of them sound like they should get along quite well. I actually thought that the girl with the sunglasses on her forehead might be Jenny the cop.

Fred: I'm sorry, I should have mentioned the page as I just have to Tommym. I'm always in a rush to upload on Sats so I tend to write what's in my head and press send. The girl with sunglasses on her head is a nobody. I started to draw a couple walking across the room but it didn't look right so I added her instead to fill the space. It could be Jenny though so I won't argue with that :)

He called his cousin Vinny, who knew how to make problems disappear!
DarkVisor at 7:08AM, Feb. 23, 2018
Hah! Was thinking of Mr Jones :D
skyangel at 3:39PM, Feb. 22, 2018
Haha Vinny Jones was going to be my role model for one of the thugs but in the end the guys faces are so small that it hardly seemed worth the effort.

Dear Sky. I do think Lucy, being so happy to have Laura back, would forgive the deception. Laura is correct in wanting to set things right. Those girls? Stacy and Alison? Gerry and Abigail? It's a great page! Like the brick work:) tommym

Tommym: That is a very important point that I've deliberated for several weeks now. I try my best to aim for realistic consequences rather than happy ones and a mess like this cannot end too happily in my view so I've written it as I've imagined it would pan out in real life rather than everyone coming together for one big happy finale. Those girls are so minor I never even named them! (SS5 p83)

This is a really awesome page! Lots of things going on and intersecting with each other, Ron's getting hung up on Laura's mother behavior and seeing (or wanting to see?) a pattern there, Laura suddenly popping into the story full steam, the two strange girls freaking each other out, and just the packed restaurant dynamics! That's a whole lot to pack into a single page :) I guess the hired thug will do a pretty good job and scare Laura for good, but I hope at least nobody will get physically hurt...
skyangel at 3:32PM, Feb. 22, 2018
IB: This coming Saturday we will get to the heart of what Ron did to silence Laura. The real problem for me is that I haven't drawn Laura enough to really get a feel for her character. She's been spoken of so often and yet as soon as I tried to visualize a look for her I realized I didn't have anything specific in mind.

Wow he actually is gonna do it!! Well... we've seen Laura already, walking around, so we know they didn't kill or cripple her... but still...!! Excellent work on this buys restaurant! I noticed one of the girls but didn't make the connection (I usually pride myself in stuff like that!)
skyangel at 3:27PM, Feb. 22, 2018
Kim: Yup, he actually do intend to do it! I couldn't help feeling that I'd made this restaurant a bit too busy when it came back coloured as I felt my eyes weren't quite sure where to go! And anyone who felt a twinge of familiarity with those faces gets a bonus point in my book, as they were such minor figures who appeared a very long way back! :)
