You know those cheap-looking stop-motion holiday specials from the 60s and 70s? Like the Rudolph special that celebrated its 60th anniversary this year? Those are Rankin/Bass specials. The creations of filmmakers Arthur Rankin and Jules Bass.

Okay, I googled it and I can’t say I recognise it. Either they didn’t show them on swedish television, or I missed them somehow. Or maybe they were on TV in the 70s, but I wasn’t born yet.

Okay then! Well, that sure was something. Come to think of it, it actually kinda felt like a Rankin/Bass special . . . maybe a somewhat edgier Rankin/Bass special, but the writing and the plot is the kind of vibe it gave off.
