Panel 1:
BRUNO (russian):    At the time that a group of human settlers discovered Rapa Nui - sometime between 800 and 1000 CE - the island was completely covered by a forest of over ten million palms and trees and full of edible fruit. It was a bird paradise. However, there were not many fish, as the sea around Rapa Nui is very poor in nutrients.
For these first settlers, the island must have been like a jackpot in the lottery of survival.
The first generations lived mainly close to the coast and from the forest. They also bred the chickens they had brought with them and cultivated small fields of crops that they had carried here on their boat.
