Another beautiful page by Essaybee, with the rest of our group.
Fusion is narrating, of course, in this scene.
From Essaybee:
“A big thanks goes out to Alex Ross, whose work served as reference for Captain Perfect's pose when EssayBee couldn't get his originally drawn pose to look right.”
Which work? See if you can find it. Dan, at least, spotted it immediately.
Essaybee also adds:
“Layout for both page 1 and page 2 was inspired by Sean Phillips's work on Sleeper. Every page of that series had a series of panels laid on top of one full-page image (or sometimes a dual image that blended together to look like one image). My pages are nowhere near as sophisticated as Phillips's work, but I thought I'd at least mention it.”
reffing Al's comment from the last strip, they better not be trying to save someone like Glenn Beck, that would be a waste... Now whoever invented S'mores, they'd be worh it!
i am guessing that the level headed ones are going to suggest falling back to save the dying MM. of course i wonder why MM would be in such a disadvantaged fist fight, there are others more suited to the task at hand.
Looks like my theory from the first page has been proven wrong... and I approve. I'm guessing the next page will have a full page spread of what they are dealing with, or it will go to Fusion starting the narration of events from the beginning.
If Hoodoo had a H on her chest, they could have lined up as "Pfeh!"
When will Bob start complaining that Fusion should have a flashback to tell the "audience" how they got in this mess? ^^
We should probably try to get a panel with Captain Perfect, Fusion and Energize standing next to each other... that way their chest letters would spell... um... FEP? PEF? Darn, nothing naughty! Fantastic page, kudos to Essay Bee for the great work!
I just now realized that Energize's and Fusion's insignia are similiar. I really wonder wonder how their interaction is going to looks like.
Also, after the first page I started to suspecting all our heroes died during their adventures and team up in afterlife to come back to life, you got me here.
@Braindonor:
For Energize, this is set AFTER his current appearance in Fearless but BEFORE his current darker look in Energize. Hope this helps. Fantastic page BTW, big fan of your art style!
Oh, fans of Ultra of POINT GUARDIAN, who was in CROSSOVERLORD, might want to click on the link to Majestic Knight, to see Ultra and the Knight compare and contrast crime-fighting methods.
Kudos to all who guessed that this was future events (I don't know if I count--I thought it could also be a prelude that sets the events in motion).
And splitting this into two pages was absolutely the right thing to do. It worked better as the teaser format, and looked all the more hopeless for Mindmistress, because you have no idea she has any help.
But this reminds me of how Energize started. You start with the hero in a hopeless situation, and then jump back to tell how things led up to it.
Also, in an ideal world, this comic could update every day. I know that's impossible, what with artists having those inconveniences called lives, but for us fans we would love to see more updates. Keep up the good work, nonetheless. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Three pages. There's a page after this.
But yeah, I spotted Essaybee's referenced art immediately: I have super geek powers.
But the page looks fantastic though. Sometimes I look a other artist's work and I just want to assimilate their brain like Brainiac and steal their power and knowledge....
...it that weird? Should I not have said that?
Only when needed. It's a Tuesday comic, but some weeks are scheduled for both Tuesday and Thursday. It kinda depends on the workload or whether or not the artist thinks that his page would work better as two.
I believe that's the case here. Sean had a single script, and it got stretched out to two pages.

I get the impression that while Hoodoo leapt to catch MM, Energize leapt to pound the evil/rampaging/misunderstood person/thing
Braindonor at 9:06PM, Oct. 14, 2010
This looks like the "old" Energize.
